Dec 7, 2008 I bought a few 6 packs at a ridiculously low price in a store recently bought by a sympathetic chinese guy that ignores everything about beers. Good luck to find some more. If you see some, get it because the sweetness of the 2005 brew is now combined with a thick caramel texture. Forget about the taste of alchool. Everything is now so sweet in this taste that it just feels like a delicious liquid quality candy. Too bad the Bieropholie actual Scotch ale is not as good... This beer ought to be ressuscitated.

Aug 7, 2008 Thanks to David for the bottle! Poured clear, deep garnety-brown with an initial cap of tan head. The aroma was just delightful.. rich, well-age caramel and toffee paired with complementary smoked beechwood and dry grapes.. quite nice! The flavor had aged caramel and dry smoky notes, but it just didn’t have the substance as the aroma.. sweeter on the back with syrupy dark fruits and cherries.. finished smoky and warm. Lighter-bodied than it should’ve been with a touch of sourness on the edges and a warming of the belly.. a touch sharp right at the finish. All in all a very solid brew!

Apr 7, 2008 341 ml Bottle from Harry; Nose of a bitter chocolate covered cherry; bitter chocolate, cherries, and some smoky and caramel notes; dark lightly hazed brown with a small straw head; flavor has dark fruitiness (black cherries), caramel, light chocolate, and some light sweetness in the finish!

Apr 7, 2008 Poured a clear deep brown color with a gold tint and legs. No real head to mention though. The aroma was malty and peaty with a hint of smoke, age and alcohol. Malty sweet flavor with some aged notes to it. Light peat with an earthy mildly bitter semi-dry finish. Nice warmth. Medium-full body.

Apr 4, 2008 Bottle shared by goldtwins. Pours a hazy dark brown with some reddish highlights when held against light. Thin light tan head that quickly fades to a ring. Pleasant aroma of caramel, dark fruit and alcohol. The flavor is sweet caramel, molasses, dark fruit and brandy. Some peat detected as well. Definite warming from the alcohol at the finish. Full bodied with an almost sticky mouthfeel. Thanks Larry!
