bedainedebiere (274), Terrebonne, Quebec, Canada Dec 7, 2008 Updated: Nov 5, 2009I bought a few 6 packs at a ridiculously low price in a store recently bought by a sympathetic chinese guy that ignores everything about beers. Good luck to find some more. If you see some, get it because the sweetness of the 2005 brew is now combined with a thick caramel texture. Forget about the taste of alchool. Everything is now so sweet in this taste that it just feels like a delicious liquid quality candy. Too bad the Bieropholie actual Scotch ale is not as good... This beer ought to be ressuscitated. ADDED: My God! That chinese guy had more cases! As a ridiculous bonus for reading this rating of mine, here’s a temporary tip: I bought something like 10 2005 6-packs in the last year, each sold at the ridiculous price of 8,99$. Best beer deal in Quebec ever, maybe! One case is left... Until December 1st 2009. After, I’ll go and buy it. E-mail me if you have it, and thank me, please... lalubeer (57), Canada Jun 30, 2006 Very interesting. I like how Bieropholie are able to try different recipes and make a very distinct product compares to the other micros. Fruity, taste of roses and alchool and sweet. SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 17, 2009 750 ml bottle - thanks after4ever!! pours dark, ruby red with tan head; huge nose of rich, candy malts, sugar and molasses; earthy and musky; cramy with a touch of whiskey and peat; malty, thick and rich; fantastic stuff; thanks tom!! Jan Primus (160), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Apr 6, 2005 Radekfest, thanks to whomever brought this one, it was a real pleasant surprise.
Murky brown with tan head, it has a sweet, chocolatey malt flavour that I really loved and minimal bitterness...medium body and goes down easy, I wonder how obtainable these are in Montreal. 3Vandoo (16), Quebec, Canada Feb 1, 2006 A nice burgundy beer with a great beige head. Smells of some cherry flavours, alcohol, fruity and malt, when at the end of the drinking experience a strong coffee smell emerge very purgeant followed by the malt.
The taste is weird, a strong note of alcohol hits you at first with a sourness and some sulfuric taste. Not that I dislike but it is odd, then a malted roasted coffee taste follows. This beer reminds me more of a Barley Wine than a scotch al but a great warmer I tell you. ogivlado (3036), Zagreb, Croatia Jun 20, 2006 Courtesy of and shared with Doggythedog -thanks ! <!-- br -->
Bottled(341ml), - licorice orange, definitely Jaffa cakes, nose; sweet malty and roasted aroma with nice chocolate notes and slight alcohol hints, bitter finish
radiomgb (1921), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Apr 2, 2005 Bottle. Deep burgandy in colour. Aroma was of slightly sweet toffee, rich malts, plums and alcohol. The flavour was of caramel malts, slightly sweet, some floral hops, plums and other dark fruits. Medium-large body, high carbonation. Finishes with a lingering warmth. It is awesome now but age will make it that much better. This brewery does it again.
