4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Not usually my favorite type of beer but it is well balanced and corresponds to the style. All with whom I have drank it would move from MACRO brew to Micro Brew anyday. Only hard to get.

Her robe was a clear golden yellow with a good white foamy head, that was reduced in size overtime but stayed for all the beer’s life.
The smell wasnt very Pilsneric, actually it didnt smell the usual pilsner.
The taste was very hoppy to the limit of cerealic, a strong sense of unbalance was very present, and for a moment I thought it was an IPA.
Not a bad brew, but not my favorite from Bieropholie

[Bottle 341ml, found in an obscure convenient store in Montreal, decayed]
This bottle is getting old. I could easily taste that cardboard flavor in the aftertaste from an improper ageing. But that has nothing to do with the quality of the beer itself, so I won’t take this into account. The poor thing is decaying (declines in quality gradually and steadily). (Yes, I know. this pilsner wasn’t made to age!)
This being said. It has a very nice rich gold color, apparently typical to bohemian pilsner. (I haven’t had many yet). Nice frothy head leaving laces. Aroma is woody, floral, grass and resin.
I can’t really rate this because I won’t do it justice. I’ll just give it its actual average, trying to be as honest as I can.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Green and yellow label, must be from an old batch, hazy yellow hue, with an explosion of foam at the opening of the bottle, i lost a third of the beer, with a frothy rocky head, leaving good laces, on the glass, piney, cedery, conifer notes, flowery hops, this beer has improved in a good way for me developing some orval characters, and yeasty and hoppy aromas follow through on a medium-bodied palate with a piney, cedery, conifery flavors, with a strong flowery hops character, leading towards an hoppy dry bitterness finish.

(341 ml bottle: Obtained in trade with tiggmtl, thanks Stephen!) Okay, now this is a really nice Bohemian Pilsener. Pouring the beer, it’s slightly hazy and dark straw in color, with a fair amount of carbonation bubbles rising slowly through the beer. The white head pours tall, fluffy and rocky, takes several minutes to settle to a thin layer, and leaves large patches of thick but delicate and beautiful lacing on the glass. The nose has a pleasant grainy aroma that is slightly corn-like, a moderate fruitiness that strikes me as odd but enjoyable, and a definite hop character that sets it apart from just about all entries I’ve tried in this beer style. The corn/grain maltiness is tasty and pronounced, and the hops contribute a mild spiciness and gentle bitterness that complements well without getting the way. Light-medium body is also sufficient to coat the palate long into the finish, but stay fresh and lively from the carbonation and light hoppiness. About the only thing I’d like to see in this is a bit of smoke, but not I’m getting picky. All around, a very solid Bohemian Pilsener, proof that this style can be done well, but also proof that it often is not.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On draught at Mondial, 2005. Had this one quite a few times. Lightly hazy body is a brilliant copper-gold with some amber highlights. Thick, white, fluffy/creamy head is full and lasting providing sheets of lacing. Smells of dry, earthy/grassy hops. Farmy, leafy, lightly bitter as well. Creamy, honeyish malt backbone can be sensed in the nose and comes alive in the flavor. Some sweaty dough-like notes and creamy sugar notes do detract from the crisp hoppiness of the aroma, somewhat. Full bodied and wonderfully extracted malt. Tons of noble-hops character. Sweet honey dough, caramel suggestions and sweet biscuits and honey. Surprising amount of bitterness for using noble hops, with no citurs flavors, which is a great change of pace (not that there should be any real citrus notes). Crisp, bitting yeast on the end, highly refreshing and drinkable. Moderate carbonation and a great drinkability for how malty and hoppy it is. Been waiting for this one for a long time, and it did not disappoint.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20

She was light and fresh, well balanced flavor. Great little pilsner, I would have it again for sure. But it seemed to be too carbonnated.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
[on tap at "the Mondiale"]
Almost clear, dark yellow with a rocky head that lasted. Fresh noble hops aroma coupled nicely with crisp malt. Standard bavarian pilsner done very well: clean malt flavour perfectly blended with noble hops. Light to medium body with moderate carbonation. A little lingering bitterness.
