Commercial Description:
A "Vin d'orge" to be distinguished from American barley wines. Unique, but if linked to any other type of beers, it would be classic English barley wines.

Wine from barley sugar. One single variety of noble hop and one single variety of malt were used.

Very sweet and jammy in the nose with some floral character and underlying marzipan. Lightly hazy golden-copper coloured body is topped by a low, off white head that recedes to a partial cover with some lacing. Sweet and fruity up front with notable but not overwhelming bitterness. Floral hop flavours and chewy cereal malt linger along with the bitterness i the aftertaste. Medium full body with decent, lightly prickly carbonation. Tulip glass. Just above cellar temperature. Bottle. Rahman. Jun-08.

2007 bottling. It certainly looks like a barley wine, orange-brown with little head. Smells like one too, with caramel, fruit and alcohol present. Flavour is big on fruit-- apples, apricots, peaches-- with a quick but noticeable alcohol kick. Finishes with the same fruit, plus some of the caramel from the aroma. Probably better fresh.

Brown-amber strong ale, very clear. Earthy, lightly woody, malty, sweet, with prune notes easily detectable. Good bitterness which fades quite fast. I liked it. I bought a couple more bottles to age.

Pours dark brownish, decent tan head. Aroma is earth, grain, soft fuits and some roast malt. Flavor is lightly tart, dry and fruity. Some harshness probably due to age. Not a bad beer.

Bottled sample via radiomgb. Deep amber in colour with surprisingly strong carbonation. Aromas of stewed fruit, caramel, sherry, woody hops , and booze. Fairly harsh in the mouth, with agressive fruit, tale malt, bitter tree bark, earth, and booze flavors. The strong carbonation doesn’t help matters. Might have gotten a little stale. Not a favorite, from a brewery whose products I normally really enjoy.
