Bottle bottled in 2010, aged four years. A Christmas present from my love :). Overall a fantastic brew! This beer has a sorb tree (sorbus domestica or whitty pear) young fruit aroma and ripe sorb tree fruit taste (minus the sweet fruit sugary taste) that reminds me of my childhood. There was a very old and huge sorb tree not far from our family house and I used to pick its ripe fruits. The sorb tree fruit bitterness in taste is phenomenal and holds on to the bitter end. This beer is a personal jackpot for me!

Bottle freom 2009 at Caspar’s. Pours hazy brown with a small, off-white foam. Aged malts on the nose, some caramel, dates, figs, leather. Medium sweet flavor, brown sugar, some bread, toast, mild dry leaves, toffee. Medium to full boidied with fine carbonation. Mild warm finish, aged malts, caramel and dark fruits. Very nice beer.

Dakujem maj lav za kostovku. Farba je zvlastna, tmavy mutny karamel. Neskutocne krasna vona. Caramelovo fruktozova vona. Skvele, osviezujuce a pritom silne a delikatne. Doporucujem na vecer k oblubenemu filmu.

Bottle (Aged one year): Malty, fruity nose, notes of raisins, plums and nuts. Amber color, frothy beige head. Flavor is light sweet, quite malty and fruity. Nice notes of cherries and plums, cacao in the end, hints of cacao bitterness and a light dryness. Pretty good one.

Big thanks to Koelschtrinker for that bottle. Looks really good. Beer in the glass dark, almost black, small head. Starts strong and malty, rusty, dry, a bit earthy. Warming finish, less dry, more spicy. Could be a bit more fiery for a Barley Wine, but still a great beer!

Bottle I got from Peter, drunk at Caspars hazy dark hazel brown in colour, little off white head. Homely nose of mühlviertler hop and aged malt. Sweet earthy stewed prunes with herby dried flowers in the nose. lovely beer and it DID age alright :-)

Hazy red-dark amber color. Chocolate aroma. Caramel flavor, quite good, not thick or sugary like a real Barley Wine, but pleasant; there is a light nutty touch; low bitterness. Not bad.

Swing top bottle from Kölschtrinker, thanks! Dark brown color. Malt, red berries, citrus and some hops in the aroma. Malty sweetish flavor with loads of hops, red berries, citrus and apple syrup. Powerful beer, not too alcoholic and with loads of flavor.

Vielen Dank an Erzengel!

750 ml bottle, 2010 vintage.
Brownish-copper body, with almost no head.
Aroma of dried fruits, cherries, berries, caramel, cocoa, some wood, some chocolate.
Taste follows this, medium sweet, a bit dry, with some more tea notes, slight tobacco.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes medium dry, a bit roasty, warm, with cocoa, wood, some fruits, some tobacco.

Very nice. Didn’t have this beer before, so I can’t compare it, but this seems to age very well. Alcohol is well hidden, drinks really smooth, with lovely fruits in the nose and a pleasant, balancing dryness in the tase. Not among my favourite style examples, but great considering this was one of the very first Barley Wines from Austria.
