COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Five different dark grains, molasses and freshly roasted African coffee beans went into this rich and decadent sweet-stout. This beer is unfiltered and matured in the bottle and will continue to improve for the next 2-3 years. After fermentation a portion of the beer was matured on medium-toast french oak providing subtle hints of vanilla and coconut.
Pour carefully to avoid disturbing the sediment.

Bottle. Black colour with a medium light brown head and a fair lacework. Rich aroma and taste of coffee, mollasses and vanilla. A bit thinner that expected. Lasting taste.

In glass it poures a dark beer, with a coffee foam head with a strong coffee aroma and some yeast notes like barnyard, when is tasted it has a full body, oily feel, soft carbonation, and an strong coffee flavor, just aftertaste the hops bitterness is felt. And the flavor keeps on your mouth for a while.

340 ml bottle. Dark brown, almost black body with a dense brown head. Nice and strong aroma of dark malt, roasted coffee and bouillon. Flavor is sweet, dark malt, roasted coffee and molasses. Fine body and both coffee and hops in the aftertaste. Nice and solid.

Pours black with a tan head. Nose shows heavy roasted malt, cocoa, big coffee notes, woody characters and booze. A bit aggressively roasted. Similar flavours. Very heavy roast with some coffee in the background and some smokey notes. Nice creamy carbonation.

At just on cool and into a snifter. Produces the darkest of brown with little evident carbonation and a quickly diminishing head. Molasses, bonfire ash, fresh strapped leather, cocoa butter and milk chocolate dominate the nose with a touch of lightly roasted coffee and Ovaltine ™. Sweet, juicy, rounded and malty on the palate. Roasted coffee bean, cocoa and roasted carob, a hint of nutmeg, mace, raw timber, rich molasses. Body is on the lighter side but adequate; it is rounded and flavoursome enough. Finishes dry and yields that alcohol well. I’d be drunkenly mistaken for quaffing a lighter stout. Easy drinking and deceptively strong, but nothing more! 340mL bottle. Pours black with a big mocha head that faded quickly. Very nice sweet whisky/molasses like aroma, both of which are also present in the flavour with and added bitter coffee hit.

Black with tanned head in appearance. Pretty good stout this without ’wowing’ me. Alcohol well hidden and went down effortlessly.

Pours black with a light brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, plenty of coffee, caramel and wood. Taste is medium to high sweet leading to a moderate bitter and roasty finish. Very good.

Bottle. Black with a tan head. Aroma of blackcurrants, coffee, vanilla, aniseed, chocolate, brandy, molasses. Silky mouthfeel, lowish carbonation. Taste is sweet and chocolatey with quite firm roasted and coffee flavours, bitterness that counters the sweetness very effectively for a while, but things get a little cloying as the glass empties. Gently woody at the end with lingering spiced coffee. Nice, enveloping, but wearing as it warms.

ComradeK (993) - The Vale of Dundas, AUSTRALIA - MAY 6, 2013
340ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a medium beige head, which lasts well and leaves good lacing. Sweet milk chocolate and whipped cream notes mix with mild coffee in the aroma. Mild herbal hops up front sit over a base of creamy milk chocolate. The chocolate persists into the mid-palate, with the hops being replaced by mild, bittersweet coffee. Irish coffee notes come through in the finish. The flavours in this stout are fairly simplistic, yet pleasant enough, making for a quite enjoyable sweet stout.
