Created for Gorilla FC, a Seattle Sounders booster club. Civís White IPA is made using American Two Row, Malted Wheat, Unmalted Wheat, and Oats, and given bitterness and aroma with Nugget and Cascade hops. This beer was designed with balance, flavor, and drinkability in mind. Itís a refreshing wheat beer, with a unique Belgian character, balanced by an assertive bitterness and bright hop aroma and flavor.

Growler from the brewery. Pours pale orange copper with thin white head. Aroma is thin malt and citrusy floral hops. Taste is similar: nicely malty body that tastes bigger than it looks. Light floral and grapefruit notes on the hops. Finishes somewhat harshly bitter. Some nice flavors here, balance is a bit off.

Draught @ The Burgundian for Brett Fest 2013:   Pale straw, moderate white frothy head, spotty lacing.   Soft Brett nose, not much IPA or other spices at this point.   Muted on the tongue, Brett but not bright.   No real hop to speak of.   Subtle overall.   Slight wheatiness. Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Very subtle for an IPA.   Decent Brett, but where is the IPA?

UPDATED: MAY 4, 2013 Draft at the brewery. When spring is in the air, I sure do love a nice white IPA...whatever that is. Pours a hazy pale gold with a dense and fizzy platinum blond head that sticks around forever, leaving a little dab of stringy white lace here and there. "It smells like the Arizona desert!," so sayeth Cynthia from the stool to my right. Aromatics show light floral notes, nothing heavy or nectary, just a light chamomile, along with some spicy esters, maybe a bit of coriander. Lightly fruity hop notes in there as well. Creamy medium body with sparkling carb--refreshing, mouth-filling. A little bit of sweetly crackery malt underneath perfectly harmonious floral, spicy, and fruity esters and hops. Clean, crisp finish. Perfect for the "warm" Seattle days that push 70F, and no doubt perfect for the full-throated roar from the stands at a Sounders game. Fucking magnificent beer.

Sample at the brewpub. This brew is a clear orange-amber color with a medium thin bone white head that evaporates quickly to a film. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, citrus and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of hops, grapefruit and yeast. The finish is mildly bitter with a citrusy hops aftertaste. Decent overall.
