On tap at Cactus, Seattle, WA. Pretty cloudy brown pour with remnants of foam on top. Mellow IPA scent, fresh citrus hops, slightly bitter. Really well blended between malt and hops. I found lots of similarities to Two Hearted. Average carbonation and slick mouthfeel. Finish is a bit sour and moderately dry. Very nice surprise from the pacific northwest.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 ACHops (282) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUN 22, 2012
On tap @ Arena Sports Magnuson. Pours dark copper with thin lingering head. Aroma is floral hops and a hint of malt. Taste is rich malts up front: medium roasted with caramel and bready flavor. Hops come on later, but they’re nice too with grapefruit and pine notes. Big Al is quietly cranking out some of the best local beers in the area from White Center. BTW, I strongly recommend their taproom if you’re in the area - great beers and they’re super friendly. As for this one, a well above average IPA with a rich malt profile.

On draft. Copper coloured with thin off-white head. Big aroma of citrus and resin. Grapefruit blast on the first sip, notes of orange and late spiciness. A tasty North West IPA -- I was surprised to see so many low ratings.

On tap at Alibi Room. Pours a translucent orange/brown. Aroma of vegetables, spices, cinnamon, nutmeg and pumpkin. Flavour reflects aroma. More like a seasonal pumpkin ale rather than an IPA. Mediocre.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a clear copper with a medium beige head. Aroma of English hops, toasted malts, nutmeg and other spices. Flavour is quite spicy for an IPA - with nutmeg and cinnamon, mild hops (English), balanced by caramel malts. Doesn’t taste like an IPA - decent.

Tap @ Latona. Cloudy dark gold pour with a short white head leaving a coarse lace. Pine and grapefruit hops, medium body of lightly roasted malt lending some toastiness and sweetness. Pretty standard PNW IPA, better as their 5-star chile variant.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 robinvboyer (2578) - Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 28, 2010
burnt orange pour, aroma of piney hops, and some sweet malts. This was a pretty underwhelming IPA. The hops are there, but they are pretty muted, and dull. Being a west coast IPA, i was dissapointed.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Glouglouburp (5572) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 5, 2010
In short: A very basic citrusy/piney IPA. Ordinary good.
How: Tap at Montreal Mondial de la Bière 2010
The look: Cloudy dark blonde body topped by a small off-white head
In long: The light nose has a little citrus and pine-needles. Taste has a basic malt backbone. Sweetness is half honey, half caramel. Not much aromatic hops but a decent amount bittering hops. Typical old-school C-like hopping. Medium bitterness. The type of IPA that was a lot of fun 10 years ago but feels very ordinary nowadays. A very basic IPA from Big Al. I used to have a neighbour and I called him Big Al all the time. A skinny little dude by name of Ron. We never became friends.
