3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Theyíre bottling now, which is pretty cool. Black in color, with a wispy head. Not much head was produced. The aroma is quite pleasant; there are touches of smoke, chocolate, jerky, and a little coffee. The aromas play well together, and nothing really is so salient that it ruins the aroma in terms of overpowering it. I was expecting more of a body considering I saw the word "Porter" on the bottle, but Iím being too critical - itís just fine. The smoky flavor immediately jumps out at me. Touches of coffee and jerky are there, and a subtle, subtle, subtle, soy sauce flavor. The sweetneess of the chocolate malt doesnít shine through as much as I though it would. It dries out my mouth quite a bit and leaves a long bitter, smoky flavor. Iím not really digging the flavor Iím left with, but everything else is relatively decent. Not a bad brew, but nothing exceptional either. The Big Al crew are some of the, hands-down, nicest folks Iíve ever met. Cheers.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a near-black color with a moderate tan head on it. Nose is actually a bit more complex than I anticipated - I got some burnt roasting and a little dark fruit before I got the smokiness of this one. Taste is very smokey and dry, though I can get just a hint of chocolate at the end of this one. Not a bad brew...

Sample at the brewpub. Brownish-black color with a medium thin beige head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Medium body with flavors of smoked malt, dark chocolate and slight coffee. The finish is malty with a subtle smoke aftertaste. Decent overall.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very dark pour, head dissipates quickly. Smokey smell that dominates the smell. Quick bite on the first sip, then gets real smooth.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Appearance has a dark brown color leaving hardley any head that dissipates quickly leaving nil lace. Smell of mainly the smoke, peat and roasted malt. Taste again of the smoke with the peat that really comes through kinda has the flavor note of smoked bacon. Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation. If your a fan of smoked beer this is a good one to try

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the brewery. Pours a very deep brown, mostly black colored body with a finger-width, creamy, dark brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is roasty with lots of rich dark chocolates and a light earthy smoke. Just a touch of meatiness. Flavor is similar. Lots of dark chocolates with a nice roast backing and a solid smokiness. Finishes with a light char and peat note alongside a medium-light, earthy and roasty bitterness that is balanced well with a good amount of chocolate. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium, smooth body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty solid smoked porter. Well balanced and enjoyable with lots of chocolate, roasts, and smoke. Good beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz bomber purchased online at Letspour.com. The pour is brownish black, opaque, with a well formed 1/2 inch light tan head. The aroma is soft char smoke, bitter dark chocolate, and a roasted meat/coffee element. Engaging nose. The taste is the nose, nice combination between the smoke, roast, dark chocolate. The taste also introduces a light touch of sweetness, which helps cut the roast a bit. The palate is medium bodied, with a nice full mouth feel, active carbonation and a dry earthy finish. Nice one.
