Much more of a red ale than an amber, it's much too bitter to be a better beer.

From a tap at the brewery. The pour is a dark ruby red with a strong aroma even though my sense of smell is weak and I can’t exactly note what it is. Matly, medium body, a little hop kick to it.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Murky brown body with only a faint scum of head on top. Fairly flat aroma with a little citrus and not much else. Tastes better than it looks or smells. You get a classic taste of piney hops balancing against a sweet backing. There’s a surprising roasted presence in the flavor. Indeed goes well with the pizza.

Draught at Lockspot Fish & Grill, Seattle, as Big Al Amber, maybe the same as Tutta Bella Amber
Light caramelly brew with low bitterness. Some toasted nuts in the final.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The beer I had was simply called Big Al Amber. I assume this is the same.
Serving: from tap at The Greek House.
Aroma: lightly sweet malt.
Appearance: small, frothy, off-white initial head with good lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Medium-amber body.
Taste: lightly bitter, smokey initial flavor and lightly bitter, nutty finish with short duration.
Palate: medium body, watery texture and soft carbonation.
Overall: pretty good.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Growler from the brewpub served in a pint glass. Pours dark reddish amber with thin head. Aroma is roasty malt with thin sweetness. Taste is faintly sweet dry biscuity malt with thin bitter hops on the finish. Thick chewy malty finish. Not bad for an amber. Somewhat lacking in hops for a NW beer, but appropriate for the style.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sample at the brewpub. This brew pours a clear amber color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily to a film. Spotty lacing. Sweet malt, citrus and caramel in the nose. Medium body with a sweet caramel malt character and notes of hops and fruit in the background. The finish is malty with a sweet aftertaste. Decent overall.

On draft. Pours copper-gold with thin white foamy head. Great lacing that lasts, clearly marking each sip. Green and floral hop aroma with sides of caramel malt. Medium bodied and full-flavoured, yet smooth. Complex with lots of character. Low carbonation makes this one you can either savour or drink in copious quantities.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Growler. Dark toasted biscuit aroma, dollop of caramel. Little pine notes. Dark caramel in the glass, small white head. Hazelnut body, leafy dryness, medium bodied, toes the line nicely. Little hoppy with ample restraint. Good doughy malt backbone. Success. Pizza friendly
