I generally like German Hefe-Weizen style beers. This is a German Hefe-Weizen beer, and I like it. I had it at Sam Choy's Seafood Restaurant in Hawai'i of course. It was served me cutely with a lemon in it, which I left there. This added to its pleasant tartness, its citrussy taste. It has a nice lightly cloudy golden tinge to it and is a quite pleasant brew. It was probably my favourite from the Big Aloha Brewery, but of course this could be due somewhat to it being a Hefe-Weizen, currently my favourite style of beer.

Had this while on vacation in Hawaii. Not a bad brew with the typical hefe profile that you’d expect, just not quite enough of it.

On tap at Sam Choy’s. Murky yellow with a white head. Wheaty nose, lemony and spicy. Flavor is more spicy, almost comes off like a wit. Soft lemony finish. OK.

Taster - Big Aloha Brewery (Sam Choys) - Honolulu, Hawaii
2008 – Great Hawaii Beer Run
Aroma – Wheat in the aroma with a slight off metallic hint. The lemon took from the aroma. DO NOT DUNK THE LEMON.
Appearance – Light golden yellow color, nice head and Hazy.
Flavor – A full wheat flavor but it was so mush dactyl it was very off on the flavor. Way too bitter and a tad metallic flavor.
Palate – Had a hazy Mouthfeel, very poor and lacking texture with a nice dry but metallic finish.
Overall – This was a beer that should have been poured out. It had a nasty flavor.

Draft: Served with a lemon which I removed promptly. Poured a cloudt yellow with a thick white head. Mild banana and clove aroma. NIce. Started off good upon tasting it. Typical banana/clove notes but then it disappears into a sourish finish. Mild chlorine hints in the finish.

Hazy gold colour with a yeasty, fruity aroma. Clove and banana in the flavour, which is nice, but the finish is quite abrupt leaving little aftertaste. A nice attempt, but not quite there.
