Draft: poured copper with a smallish beige head. Aroma of hops and some pine. Flavor is hoppy, a little pine and pineapple. Some caramel notes. Quite enjoyable.

Pours a nice redish brown with small white head, no lacing. Aroma of citrus and piney hops. Taste is smoother than I expected. Well-rounded with bitter aftertaste.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Pawola22 (2202) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 3, 2011
On tap at the brewpub (Sam Choy’s). Pours a clear, dark amber colored body with a finger-width, frothy, off-white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a moderately sticky lacing. Aroma is lighter, fruity caramels, florals, a touch of citrus pine, and a bit of a sourness. Flavor somewhat thin, but better. Light caramels, a decent piney citrus, a hint of bread, some florals, and a few resins. Finishes dry with a medium piney bitterness and a touch of caramel sweetness before leaving a lengthy aftertaste. Lighter body and soft, crisper, medium carbonation. Overall, a decent IPA. Fairly well hopped and straightforward with a bit thin of a body. Something was a touch off on the aroma, but this was easily the pub’s best.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 decaturstevo (3669) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - OCT 12, 2010
Orange with creamy head and lace. Caramel malt light/medium resiny hop aroma. Semi sweet start with a decent resiny finish. Slightly foamy medium bodied beer.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 BillKismet (2753) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 31, 2010
Somewhere, this brew went wrong--assuming that they are not using the Ringwood yeast for this beer. Starts promisingly enough as it sports an orange-tinged amber body with a decent head. However, any indistinct hoppiness is utterly bogged down by the diacetyl/butterscotch aroma and flavors. If any style category could salvage this, it would fall under the rubric of buttery English-style E.S.B.’s.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Immy (1948) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - JUN 23, 2009
On tap at Sam Choy’s. Clear, dark gold with a white head. Odd herbal and earth nose. Strange flavor, too - orange and weird herbal flavors, light earth. Really didn’t like this much at all.

Tap. Sweet caramel malt and pine hops aroma. Dark amber color with small head. Sweet caramel malt and moderate hops flavor. Lingering hops aftertaste. Very nice - great blending of hop and malt flavors.

Taster - Big Aloha Brewery (Sam Choys) - Honolulu, Hawaii
2008 – Great Hawaii Beer Run
Aroma – A decent IPA aroma with some malts lingering.
Appearance – Yellow in color, nice head and clear.
Flavor – A decent IPA flavor with the good malt background to hold it up. This was about 70 IBU’s it was pretty good.
Palate – Had a good Mouthfeel, the hops made the beer finish very dry this was a good IPA would hold up in the Pac NW.
Overall – IPA fans can get a beer they would be happy with. It is not the huge IPAs we have but still la decent IPA.

Decent cloudy amber color. Not enough hops to satisfy my taste. Bland and boring. Should have left it on the island.
