3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 badgerben (4116) - Blaine, USA - DEC 3, 2011
Darkish brown with a falling, medium head. Caramel and nutty aroma. A fairly strong buttery/nutty Munich malt flavor. On the bitter side, but more grain bitter/astringent than hop induced.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 BVery (2538) - Burnsville, Minnesota, USA - APR 6, 2012

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 backdaft (44) - Menasha Red Light District, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 29, 2012
Bottle. Pours a light bronze with small off white head that quickly dissipates. Some patchy faint lacing. Aromas of malt and a bit of caramel. Taste is similar; light malt, caramel, a bit of hops. Medium bodied with a dry finish. Drinkable, but nothing really standing out for me.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 brian60625 (247) - Illinois, USA - NOV 27, 2011
Boatilla didn’t have much flavor, and what it did have was sort of funky. There wasn’t a whole lot of aroma, but at least it had a nice copper color. I hope Big Bay takes a stab at tweaking the recipe because Milwaukee could use another good amber microbrew.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 1FastSTi (3000) - Glendale, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 1, 2011
Tap. Pours to an amber body with a white head. The aroma is nasty with lots of diacetyl and butterscotch. Similar flavor and totally flawed. The palate is average.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Brigadier (1937) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - SEP 13, 2011
12 oz bottle
A nice amber ale this was a good introduction to a new brewery. It might be that this is the best they have to offer. If not then I’ll be checking out a few more of their beers once I go back through Wisconsin. For the affordable price point it is a winner.
Aroma / Appearance - The almond brown body has a warm glow. Mocha foamy head sits peacefully above the surface. Almond butter, cocoa powder, and then a light sweetness trade off appearances. Gentle soft hops are present as well.
Flavor / Palate - Gentle hops tickle the throat. A light mixture of almonds, cocoa, and soft malts wake up the senses. The sensation fades quickly but leaves enough of a mark to please the palate. If this came from a brewery with a track record for excellence it would be a bit of a letdown. Coming from an unknown brewer however it was a good introduction and hopefully not the last.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 StefanSD (1585) - Lakeside, California, USA - SEP 3, 2011
12 oz bottle from the pig. Translucent copper pour with a small white head that soon fades to a film. The aroma is mild and indistinct with sweet grains. The flavor is more sweet grains, spicy hops and a bit of vegetable essence. The palate is medium-light with soft carbonation. Finishes short and dry. Overall: meh.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 beerdawg (7) - Wisconsin, USA - AUG 23, 2011 does not count
Good beer/ale with balanced flavor, aroma. Enjoyable because I can have a couple and not be overwhelmed with resin, malt, etc. Aroma is balance though subtle. Appearance is clean bright amber with a red hue. It did linger on the palate well, then cleared off the tongue nicely. Potential for a go to beer when not feeling adventurous.
4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 MrPhield (7) - Wisconsin, USA - AUG 22, 2011 does not count
This is a BEAUTIFUL beer! Lacks the aroma I would expect when looking at the beautiful amber color. In reading the intent of the brewery I thought they did a great job brewing this beer. They lightened the finish with out compromising the body which I thought had a great roasted malt taste, with a hint of sweetness and maybe a little nutty flavor, but I think that is where I got the sweetness from.
