I like my stouts to have a bit of bitterness to them, and this is one of the drawbacks of this beer. The hops are present but almost completely overwhelmed by the chocolate and coffee character of this offering. Still, really good. I made some jambalaya with this beer once, might’ve been the best jambo I’ve ever made...

Nice black pour with a tan head. Weak nose but nice coffee and malt notes. Taste is good but thin and a bit watery. Just ok.

Pours with a massive head. Hints of chocolate and coffee quite a nice brew Dark roasted Malts seem to dominate the hops, rich and lays well on the palate.

For a regular stout, I thought this one was pretty darn good when I had it on draft at Big Bear. Pours stout brown with a tan head. Nose is cocoa, coffee, roast, dark chocolate, and a tiny amount of bitterness. Flavor is similar with dark fruitiness in the background and lingering cocoa/ chocolate character in the finish. Nice stout.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 kmyers8807 (176) - Ohio, USA - OCT 29, 2009
I actually liked this stout, for a guy not liking very many stouts. It was very well balanced and very sweet compared to most. I actually had two pours from draft
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 yalnikim (800) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - OCT 4, 2009
26/08/2009. bottle from Beerstore, shared with TheGrandmaster. Mashing in warm ups... delicious black brute of a bear. Roasty, clean and amply hopped. Slender and surprisingly tender (though I imagine a few bottles of this would sting you in the morning, if not the pocket). Travelled well.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 crazyvin (1691) - New York, USA - MAY 5, 2009
The best beer that i had while visiting. Poured a nice black hue with a bone color had that had thin layer that coated the glace all the way down to the bottom. Aroma was heavy with roasted malt notes. Flavor was very dry and had a great balance between chocolate and coffee notes. Could have had more body to it but still nice.

On nitro at the Florida Brewers Guild BeerFest 2009. Pours deep dark garnet with copper edges with nice creamy nitro enhanced mocha head. The moderate aroma has roasty malts, a bit of burnt malts, a touch of caramel sweetness and molasses. The taste is roasty, modest burnt malts and touch of grainy malts. It then becomes somewhat burnt by midway to go along with the associated roasted malts astringency. Into the finish an underlying thin layer of earthiness is noticed as well as a hint of molasses.
