Pours a deep monotonically copper with weak off white head. The aroma is on the light side emitting roasted malts, caramel, some biscuit and faint breadiness. There may also be the faintest hint of citrus hops too. The taste is kind of sweet malts and roasted malts mixed with caramel creating almost a sweet citrus flavor aided by mild citrus hop flavor and faint citrus hop bitterness, if there is any at all. It could just be faint malt astringency. Into the finish I get more mild caramel and sweet malts that fizzle out into the finish.

On tap. Pour is a clear reddiish amber. Faint aroma of a traditional Irish red. Medium bodied beer with a flavor profile that is in line with its style, even if it is pretty light. Not as good as the true Irish reds I have tried, but definitely better than the Killian’s they compare it to.

Draft... Clear amber ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Sweet, grainy aroma and flavor with notes of spent grain, biscuit and toffee. Medium to full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and feather-soft carbonation. Sweet, grainy finish.

Draft sampler at FBGF. Poured a reddish brown color with medium frothy off-white head. Moderate sweet malt and hop aroma. Medium body. Average sweet roasted malt flavor with a moderate smooth bitter finish.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2009 I like this one a lot and almost love it. The aroma is like a cellar where malt is stored with a decent hopping. The appearance is red amber with a small head. The flavor is caramel malt and bitter hops that were not as powerful in the aroma. Thin palate but, overall this one is a winner. In my opinion, it was the best of show FBG 09.
