Poured up on tap at the Big Bear brewpub with deep and dark body and thin lasting mocha colored head. The mild aroma offers up some roastiness, some esters and a moderate level of chocolate covered malt balls. The taste is rather bold with rich smoothness carrying very roasty notes. I get roasted malts heading into full up burnt malts that are tempered by velvety smooth chocolate. To about midway I get dark to burnt malts, tasty chocolate and a surge of dark fruity esters that all seem to fight it out into the finish. Tasty classic Russian Imperial Stout.

Nitro… This beer rocks!… Pitch black with a large, creamy, beige head. Incredible retention. The muted nose is of mocha, caramel and smoke. Full-bodied and velvety with soft carbonation. This beer was made specifically for nitro as creamy mocha and dark chocolate flavors burst along with a nice whisper of blackstrap molasses that may have been overbearing if not restrained by the gas. Lengthy, burnt, moderately bitter finish. Reminiscent of DDC’s Péché Mortel on nitro in Montreal. Wow. World class stuff!

For a Florida Imperial Stout, this one has a lot of character. Imperial stout brown/ black with cocoa, coffee, roast, and chocolate. Flavor is chocolatey with tiny amount of coffee, and a decent earthy sweetness. Really nice.

Has a pretty good flavor of coffee and chocolate. Nice bitter finish, with a refreshing end.

Nitro pour. Almost black with a very creamy tan head. Aroma is loaded with roasted malt, chocolate and sweet coffee. Flavor has more chocolate sweetness than the aroma would suggest. Ver good mouthfeel. Some hints of dark fruits too. Good stuff.
