Draft. Pours dark brown thin tan head. Aroma dominated primarily by coffee. Mild sweet taste. Full body, creamy texture, roasty, and bitter finish. Overall a decent stout.

My Bottom Line:
This luxurious cake of a Coffee Imperial Stout is the setting for luscious coffee, milk chocolate and underlying fruitiness, building a most satisfying dessert.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy sheet of foam protects the brown-hued blackness.
-This is very sweet, but the fruitiness and light roastiness make it more than palatable.
-The finish could be hoppier (to my tastes).
-This is not a complex Imperial Stout, but it certainly does its job very well.br /> -This remains a great dessert brew for sweet teeth.
-If you are a fan of Péché Mortel, Speedway Stout and other coffee-laden hefty Stouts, this should be right up your alley.

Bottle.

Poured a dark black color with aromas of dry roast coffee, light earth and some ash. Flavors are roast, coffee, dark malt and light oxidation. Decent overall.

On tap at the Flying Saucer in Raleigh. Big coffee flavor up front, with a nice, smooth finish that had a little hint of alcohol. Easy drinking stout, good for cold weather.

Really liked the coffee flavor, not overpowering. Smooth and dark. Definitely has chocolate flavors.

Bottle at home. Pours opaque black with a large, frothy light tan head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is coffee, chocolate malt, prunes and dates, light vanilla notes, earthy and herbal hops. Flavor is dark malt dominant, vanilla, dark fruits, light hops and medium hop/malt bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle at Bruce’s Birthday batch @Craft Islington. Thanks to C-Dogg! It pours deep ruby-brown with a medium beige head. The nose is earthy, musty, coffee, dark chocolate and barnyard. The taste is coffee, toasty, earth, mild acidity, chocolate and light tang with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Fairly one-dimensional. OK, but I was hoping for more depth.

Craft Islington. Brucie Boys Birthday Bash. Cheers to Mr Bois for this one. Almost opaque dark brown beer, good tan head. Palate is light and airy. Mellow dark malt, light tang and lactose. Touch of dark chocolate. Semi.dry finish. A bit dull but okay.

Bottle I brought along to Bruce’s Birthday Bash @ CBC N1, big thanks initially to Toby Kernel for passing this ’spare’ to me at the brewery, 07/02/14. Mid black with a good sized tan head. Nose is light roast, earthy, touch of cocoa powder, dark fruit pangs. Taste comprises dark toffee fudge, cocoa powder, faint coffee, dark fruit lick. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Ok drinkable offering but lacks any depth for the ABV, also not much coming off in the way of coffee, perhaps a little old ?

UPDATED: FEB 14, 2014 Bottle shared at Bruce’s birthday gig at CBC Islington. Cheers to Colin. Pours very dark brown with a creamy beige head. Nose is toasty biscuit, very milky chocolate and a touch of liquorice. Taste is nice and creamy milk chocolate, vanilla bean, sweet milk, touch soy-like - almost nutty sweetness. A very creamy drop. Solid, inoffensive stuff
