3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Thanks ucusty, bottle: I have not had too many of this style before. Pale golden pour, some bubbly white head. Aroma is so weird; like cheerios or graham crackers, or honey-dusted biscuits. Flavor is light bodied and dry and reminds me of those "green bottled" brews, with a slight skunk character to it but not a detriment to the beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer was quite a nice example of the style: pleasant fruity hops and light yeast flavors. A bit light on the palate yet still enjoyable.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: JUL 14, 2008 Draft. Very light yellow color, almost no head, some big bubbles cling to the glass. A muted nose of straw, graininess, and just a small hint of hops. The flavor’s pretty mild and straight ahead...bread and a touch of sweetness. Extremely thin in body, flavor, and aroma, and though it finishes cleanly, there’s nothing too impressive about this one. A good palate cleanser between nice beers or a much nicer replacement for cheap light beer.

Draught at Tyr na Nog in downtown Raleigh. Looks light golden, medium head--dissipates quickly, some lacing. Aroma is light sweetness and some grain in aroma. Flavor is similar, bitter in the end, with a soft mouth feel. Little dry in finish. Nice session beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
The aroma was slight sulfur with a low winey characteristic. The aroma was lightly grainy and quite fruity. The beer arrived clear pale straw with a white tight bubbled head which lasted well to lace the glass. The flavor was lightly grainy and malty with a spicy hop presence and a winey characteristic. The sulfur in the aroma carried through into the flavor. The finish was dry with a light lasting hop and spice into the aftertaste. The body was medium with a somewhat low level of carbonation. All in all a nice Kolsch. Pint at VDH.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: DEC 16, 2011 On tap at the Federal, Durham. Has a translucent amber body with a rather fruity quality to it. Mild head, not too heavy on the malts, and fairly perky/drinkable. Good quaffer down the local.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Clear golden beer with a slight white head. Slight spicy hops in the aroma. Not much else. Flavor has a grassy start, buttery middle, and a seltzer like finish. It gets a bit unpleasant after a bit and I ended up leaving about a fourth of my pint on the bar while I ordered something else.

UPDATED: MAY 17, 2008 I have never really been a kolsch fan, but I really enoyed this one! yeasty hoppy aroma. Thick kolsch flavor very rich for a kolsch. finish clean true to the style.
3-29-08 Re-rate. Completly sour on 3/28/08 lots of diacetyl I cant beleive they were serving it. After two guys after me complained I new it wasnt me. Bartender tasted it and said it was fine. Blasphemy!

Growler fresh from the tap thanks to frumpty. Good call, Ryan. Been looking forward to trying this one. Pour is very similar to many of the kolsches I’ve had in the past. It looks like muddy/metalic water. No head. Nose is slightly nutty, biscuit malts, crisp earthy hops. Flavor and mouthfeel are much richer and fuller than I’ve ever experienced in a kolschbier. Even got a stamp of approval from my friend Henning who is from Koln. Nice work Ken and Co.!!!
