COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This dark brown ale is slightly sweet with a caramel and dark fruit finish. A show case of fine English malts, floor malted the old way. We use pale, chocolate, and crystal malts to produce a complex, but easy drinking dark ale. Very reminescent of northern English ales.

Draft. Pours amber brown with a beige head. Malty aroma with some toasty notes and a light sweetness. The flavor is generally on the clean side, with some toasty and sweet malts and light floral notes. Pretty good.

Draft at flying saucer. Pours dark brown with heavy brown foam. Not much on the nose. Very faint nutty maltiness. It’s bland. Color me disappointed.

poured into glass from 12oz bottle, deep brownish red color with beige head, aroma very sweet like caramel or brown sugar, the taste was similar with a roasted, toffee-like flavor, very drinkable

Boring beer. Palate is thin. Taste is first burnt then not enough bitterness to balance beer.

Lightly roasted, nutty aroma and flavor. Mouthfeel is lighter than expected, but doesn’t detract from the overall beer for me. This is a nice session beer and one of Big Boss’ better year-round beers.

Bottle. Reddish-brown pour with a medium head. Light caramel malt aroma. Flavor is a cinnamon and chocolate malt. Crisp and not too heavy. Not particularly memorable but better than many brown ales. Not a bad beer overall, however, and one of several decent offerings from a burgeoning Raleigh brewery scene.

Not worth remembering, like most brown ales. Aroma of grainy malted sweets. Flavor is watery brown sugar, toasty toast and a little nutted caramel. Emphasis on watery...

On tap at Tyler’s in Durham. Darker amber-brown in colorwith a small off-white head. Caramel and butterscotch aroma, maybe a very slight nuttiness. Caramel malt on the flavor with a bit of toast and a little butter/diacetyl note. Smooth mouthfeel with average carbonation. This beer is fine I guess, but I’ve had far better in the style.
