Beautiful dark brown appearance. Aroma of malt and roast. Flavor is slightly roasted and malty, with a sour note and not a good sour note. Body was thin.

Taste is caramel malt sweet followed by notes of berry. Dry finish without a lot of lingering darkness or malt.

Pours a dark deep brown amber color. Its malty and has hints of toffee caramel and a mild sweetness. There is also a bitter somewhat metallic finish, just as the name says. Not bad at all.

I found this brown ale quite enjoyable. Great mix of pale and chocolate malts, even a slight toffee flavor coming through.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Huhzubendah (1980) - Washington DC, USA - DEC 6, 2012
The beer is reddish brown with a thin beige cap. The aroma is pretty weak, offering subtle hints of bready malts, biscuits, fruit. Light bodied, with moderately low carbonation. A decent beer, but generally unexciting. Some toffee and caramel notes. Probably won’t have this one again.

This is a one of the best brown ales I have had. Full flavored with a long finish that is heavy on dark fruits.

Not too sweet and plenty bitter: I would call this a porter over a brown ale. Malt profile leans toward well-roasted. I believe the featured hops is Chinook: smokey, piney, a little minty. Chinook and chocolate malt is one of my favorite combinations in a porter, but to critique it stylistically it didn’t have what I look for in a brown ale in terms of malt/hops balance, sweetness, and supporting nut/toffee/toasty flavors in the grist.
