COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This dark brown ale is slightly sweet with a caramel and dark fruit finish. A show case of fine English malts, floor malted the old way. We use pale, chocolate, and crystal malts to produce a complex, but easy drinking dark ale. Very reminescent of northern English ales.

Bottled. A chest-nut colored beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of caramel, malt, nuts, and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, nuts, cocoa powder, and malt, leading to a dry cocoa finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Draft at Fox & Hound, Wilmington, NC... NTB Ernesto Festo ’06... Clear brown ale with a large, frothy, beige head. Caramel and toasted nut nose. Malty, nutty, caramel flavor. Leans toward the sweet side of balance and offers up a good bit of buttery diacetyl. Light to medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Moderately malty, crisp finish.

12oz bottle acquired in trade (I can’t find who this came from, if it was you, let me know!). Poured a deeper brown color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of toasted malts, light caramel, and some nuts. I was also getting an earthiness to it. Tastes of caramel, chocolate, toasted malts, and nuts. Thinner body.

Bottle thanks to ucusty: Pours a transparent dark amber mahogany with a spotty-lacing khaki-colored head. Aroma of sweet toasted caramel with some nuttiness and mild earthy notes. Starts with a good dark caramel malty sweetness and toasted hazelnut flavor with a touch of earthy bittering hops before a semi-dry finish. A pretty good and true to style brown ale.
