COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This dark brown ale is slightly sweet with a caramel and dark fruit finish. A show case of fine English malts, floor malted the old way. We use pale, chocolate, and crystal malts to produce a complex, but easy drinking dark ale. Very reminescent of northern English ales.

pint at Village Draft house back on march 10th by the note I found. Sweet aroma, lite citrusy notes about it, nutty malts. Dark orangy brown color, Good head and lace. Bittersweet flavor chocolate, caramel, nutty, Thin body, lite creamy mouthfeel, bittersweet finish. Tasty brown, easy to drink. A good local I can find around in alot of non beer geek restaurants and bars. I like the aroma a little more overall, but not significantly. Session beer for sure.

I’m not usually a brown ale fan, but this is awesome. Great chocolatey notes to this one and is remarkably smooth. A very easy drink and lighter than I would have thought.

Toasty, malty, sweet flavor with a hint of bitterness. Good. Would try it again.

On tap at Cabo Fish Taco, NoDa, Charlotte NC. Clear deep brown liquid with a nice head of white bubbles. Nose is light caramel malt with hints of nuts. Taste is lightly sweet malt that has a nice roasted middle taste resolving into a very faint hint of bitter. Good overall beer.

Originally reviewed: 4/10/12. 12oz bottle, "bottled on" notched on the side - January ’12. Poured into a pint glass. Pours a dark chocolate brown with some ruby tint on the edges. Small tan head caps it off. The nose is sweet with fresh breads, mild chocolate tones, and a sugar-cookie whiff. Moderate depth, carbonation level is just a touch high for my liking, but not too bad. Nice bready flavors. Sweet malty toffee. Light bitterness. This beer is refreshing and a good one to cap off the night. Sweet, malty, tasty.

Tap.medium brown with a red tint and thin creamy head. Smells like bread and green plants and metal. Nice hoppiness but a little watery. Light bodied and a little creamy.

I originally had this a long time ago at a movie theater and I thought it tasted like a bad penny. My palate has expanded so here we go again. Pours brown and hazy. Very small brown head. Smell caramel. Taste is bland to me. I think I served it to cold so that’s more my fault. Still don’t think it’s worth it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured out of a 12oz bottle ...pours very dark almost black ..has a aroma of roasted malts and a hint of chocolate ...taste exactly how it smells big on roasted malts hints of chocolate is in there on the finish...over all it has a better balance than the Belgian style ale they put out and all in all the only bad thing I can say about this is that I wish it had more carbonation but that’s just my preference ...cheers

Pours a dark, semi-transparent chocolaty brown with a fairly thick, if not too persistent, light tan head. Malty aroma has tones of molasses and caramel and a sweet hint plus a touch of hops. Flavor has malty and molasses notes plus hints of caramel, hops and honey. Smooth texture has above-average body and a little fizz. Bad penny? Not too shabby!

Draft. Pours amber brown with a beige head. Malty aroma with some toasty notes and a light sweetness. The flavor is generally on the clean side, with some toasty and sweet malts and light floral notes. Pretty good.
