Great looking beer from Big Boss. Deep dark pour with a little bit of tan head. Smells of toasted malts, caramel, cherries, and, of course, raspberries. Silky smooth taste, with dark chocolate and just the right amount of fruit, subtle and not overwhelming. This beer definitely surprised me.

Little sour and medium bitter good strong flavor, light dark cherry, hint of cough syrup...decent

12 oz. bottle. Pours black, with a medium, tan head. The aroma is bitter chocolate, tart raspberries, some earthiness, and a little cinnamon. Mild sweetness, with a significant bitterness and just a hint of tartness. Medium body, lightly acidic, sticky and astringent. Overall, this is a nice attempt, but it is much too bitter. Not really pleasant to drink.

Low to no head, lightly carbonated pretty close to flat, and served on draft. The color is a dark black, with just a hint of red at the meniscus. Flavor a bit too much raspberry for me, maybe a bit bigger will more mouthfeel would help.

Awesome aroma of decadent chocolate with a pinch of raspberries at the end. So much chocolate. Taste brings the baker's cocoa powder forward, yet cannot assemble itself into an equally impressive flavor profile. Solid nonetheless.

12oz at my place with Patrick. Pours dark brown with red tint. No head. Aroma is dark raspberries and chocolate, cocoa powder. Some roasted malt in the background. Taste is slightly thin, cocoa powder, lightly roasted malt, a booze burn like vodka, some dark fruit in the background, is smells better than it tastes.

Light dusting of cocoa powder, a twinge of raspberry infusion, but legit raspberry, not fake raspberry syrup flavor. Somewhat lacking as a complete picture though, just a couple neat elements here and there with little direction.

A dark brown ale with a thin brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with light alcohol and berry notes. In mouth, powdery chocolate malt with light berries, a bit of off character, grassy, OK.

Bottle to snifter (shared by jmborggren). Looks good; a fairly opaque dark cola with thin beige lacing. Smells of dark malt and mild raspberry with some black pepper notes. Tastes like it smells, only better, and a heavier raspberry presence without the pepper. Solid on the palate (it doesn’t drink like it’s 8%, although it’s a little thin). Enjoyable.

Consumed this under the description of "chocolate raspberry stout" which seemed passably accurate, Brewery website says "BELGIAN BLACK RASPBERRY ... black ale". It is near black in color with a dark tan head that leaves very good lacing. The aroma fits "raspberry stout", with little detectable chocolate. The flavor has a well-balanced mix of chocolate, raspberries, and dark malts. Perhaps a touch too sweet despite a kick of bitter in the finish from dark roast and hops. M: creamy smooth but a tad thin.

I thought this was a really weird beer. Looked like a stout, but sweeter, like a belgian dark, then the raspberries showed up at random points. Curious, but I don’t think I would want it again.
