Foxbush (373), Richmond, Virginia, USA Apr 6, 2006 This was great experience. The IPA that could be enjoyed at anytime. This was a super experience. It was my first from the Edenton Brewery. The head was frothy but not excessive. The color was a clear gold and inviting. The grapefruit flavors and hops were well balanced. Th bitterness of the hops lingered on the tongue and then faded. This was purchased at the Caboose in Ashland, VA. I will be looking for some of their other brews.
Immy (1652), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Nov 18, 2007 Growler from ucusty - thanks! Slightly hazy golden amber with a thick off white head. Nice nose - sweet caramel, herbal, some piney hop.Flavor is a nice bitter/sweet balance - sweet caramel and bitter pine, some light grapefruit. Pretty spiderweb lace from top to bottom. Medium bodied. Very nice beer - I was concerned about this growler, as I got sick and let it sit in the fridge for almost 2 weeks. ucusty duct taped the lid for me, and it held up perfectly. Thanks again, David! alexanderj (1523), San Diego, California, USA Oct 8, 2007 Small sample, hope to get a chance to rerate. Aroma was mostly citrus and floral. Flavor was much of the same with a light caramal backbone. Above average for the style. kp (6300), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Updated: Sep 30, 2007Name: Big Boss IPA
the pine aroma and sweetness in the flavor has been subdued, still lots of good hop flavor and betterness, the caramel sweetness eventually comes back in the flavor but not the pine
gotohelunc (400), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Aug 28, 2007 Draft at Brixx. I love the hop-bomb as much as most any hophead, but this one didn’t do it for me. Decent nose of grains and bitterness with a hint of alcohol. Dark amber. The flavor’s pretty easy to explain: hops + alcohol. I usually like the hopbombs, but I found this one to lack complexity and depth beyond the overwhelming shot of bitterness and a surprisingly apparent alcohol burn. I didn’t expect that with so much trying to hide it and only 6.75%, but it was there. There may have been something off with the tap, as well, as it had almost no head and was pretty flat. Far from the worst beer out there, but not a good representation of a great style. jcwattsrugger (4272), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Jul 24, 2007 on tap @HopfestNC-pours a big foamy retaining light tan head and gold color. Aroma is citrus hops. Taste is citrus hops-some bitter, secondary medium malt. Light/medium body. Mild carbonation.
