HIGH ROLLER American-Style IPA is brewed with whole Northwest hops and balanced with pale and caramel malts. We add hops to this beer three times to build a deep, complex hop profile. This is our example of a unique American twist on a British classic.

12oz Bottle. The pour was a murky burnt orange with an average (1-2 finger) white frothy head that slowly diminished, reducing to a medium puddled film and medium collar with very good sheets of lacing. The aroma was of a grain malt, floral and grassy hops and a soapy yeast with notes of caramel, citrus (grapefruit and orange peel) and a light fruity ester (pineapple I believe). The taste was lightly malty-sweet with a touch of caramel and a good fruity presence from the start, progressing into a slightly bitter hoppy taste with a hint of grapefruit and a seriously bitter citrus peel ending. The flavor lingered on the taste buds for a good long while, with the bitter citrus peel taste hitting you right in the back of the throat. Mouthfeel was a few steps beyond light in body and dry in texture with a solid medium carbonation. Overall this is a nice fruity, bitter IPA that I found to be balanced very well, making it a smooth and easy to drink brew...

Rich copper coloured body with a bit of a honey and light bronze glow and a thin, single centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of bright grassy and citrus hops with hints of pine and alcohol, a little caramel and malt. Medium-bodied; Grassy and very deep herbal hops with a thin-body, some malt which adds depth and a pungent bitterness from the yeast that has quite a kick on the end. Aftertaste shows bitterness, some pungent hops and a little sweetness of caramel at the end. Overall, a decent IPA, but showing too much bitterness and not enough depth and complexity to be worthwhile, especially since so many good IPAs exist all around the country. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Cary, North Carolina on 02-August-2014 for US$1,99 sampled at home in Washington on 25-October-2014.

Serving: Draft. Hazy amber pour with a loose white head. The nose leads with citrus but has a light malty and grain underpinning. The flavor follows suit with the malt providing a little more balance than I care for in my IPA. The citrus notes from the hop seem subdued. Medium bodied with a medium to long bitter finish. Leaves you wanting something a little more in your brew.

bottle. So-So IPA - but enjoyable. Nothing really stood out - very conservative IPA, which can be good

Type: 12-oz. bottle Glass: Boulevard Ales pint glass From: Trader Joe’s in Ballantyne (Charlotte), N.C. Price: $1.67 (I think) Purchased: July 26, 2014 Consumed: July 26, 2014 Misc.: N/A Poured a dark caramel, murky color with three fingers of khaki white head. Lots of layered foamy lacing along the sides of the glass. Great retention on the top all the way down. Smelled earthy rye malts, caramel, toffee, lemon, citrus, tangerine and some unknown spices. Tasted earthy rye hops, caramel, orange rind, lemon, citrus and slight dried apricot. Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long finish. A pretty good earthy imperial IPA. A couple of my ratings probably could have been a bit higher.

Cask conditioned at Kudu. Glowing deep orange pour with a thick white head. Big tropical citrus hops on the nose, apricots and peaches with bready malt backing. Flavor is similar with that sticky hop character finishing it. Not too shabby.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. The aroma is a faint, but present, orange creamsicle note with a syrupy caramel and a bit of grass. It pours a foggy orange copper color with a big, dense, off-white, rocky head. Good retention as a puffy surface coating is left behind as well as an abundant, messy and puffy lacing along the glass. The taste lies on the higher end of medium for both bitterness and sweetness - the bitterness stands out a bit more. Lots of fuzzy carbonation greet the palate with a slick texture and a full, resin, grass, and grapefruit body. Some of the orange creamsicle comes back in the finish with grapefruit membrane, grass, and some caramel malt. The dry, grassy and resin aftertaste lingers.

Very nice IPA wit lots of nose, plenty of aromatic ops, fresh and clean. Only modest head and no lacing.

Pours a slightly hazy dark amber with a nice pale tan head. Hoppy aroma has a firm underpinning of sour orange. Flavor has a bold hoppy core that supports hay and citrus notes, and is only slightly bitter. Texture is firm, fizzy and lively. Go ahead, take a chance with it!
