3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JCB (3100) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - MAY 16, 2012
Bottle from Whole Foods, Durham. It’s been nice to see more IPAs pop up in NC over the past two years in particular. The usually solid Big Boss has produced a competent, fairly dry, and sessionable IPA. Dark orange pour, relatively minimal carbonation and a ripe grapefruit rind aroma. Mouthfeel is medium, a bit peppery on the palate. Flavors are fairly one-dimensional, sharp and dry throughout with not quite enough additions to make it as balanced as you’d like. Not bad, though

Bottle. Nice copper color, medium-thin tan lacing. Aroma of floral, citrus, caramel. Flavor is both sweet and bitter. Nice level of bitter and crispness in finish. Overall enjoyed, good not great IPA.
