The world does not need another amber beer. This one is slightly interesting due to the rye but that’s about it. Sweet caramel and toffee. Metallic grain. Rye bread. Slight hop notes.

Bottle from Sam’s Quik shop. Pours dark brown with a microscopic khaki head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Has a little bit of rye on the nose. Some muted rye notes on the tongue with a little citrus from the hops. Finishes clean. Kind of boring.

Hazy brownish/purplish pour with small ring of white head. Smells and tastes fairly sweet malt with some rye, but not a whole lot. Small hop bite on the tail, but only for just enough balance. not bad.

draft poured an amber red color with off white head. mild aroma of rye and malt and hops. the flavor was pretty much the same mild in all respects. the odd thing here is the rye...gives it just a little twist in a good way but not enough to make me turn my head.,

12 oz bottle. Tastes like an amber but not as heavy and not as much caramel. Very balanced with good mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a dark amber with hints of red to it. Despite being on draught, I get a slight metallic smell coupled with a lot of grains. Slight bitterness to it, like it was overmalted.

Sample at the Harris Dist. Craft Expo. Soft light amber pour with one finger of sticky off white head. Nose shows diacetyl and some bready notes with a mildly spicy character. Diacetyl shows in the flavor as well. Light astringency with some citrusy notes.

Poured from my home tap, this one looks great in the glass, with a deep mahogany-amber color and a thick, creamy, foamy, sand-colored head. The aroma is light and fresh albeit usual, with a light citric acidity (primarily lemon) being complemented by some bready malts. The light bready sweetness and subtle bitterness again balance each other in the flavor, but there is also an ashy, almost smoky earthiness, which presumably is contributed by the rye. The contribution isn’t substantial, however, and only provides some nuance to an otherwise common flavor profile. The carbonation is a bit high initially, but the texture also gets a bit syrupy in the finish, although not terribly so. Overall, this is a light and pleasant amber that is plenty drinkable, but only the subtle earthiness from the rye addition sets this apart from any other solid amber ale.

A copper ale with a thin off white head. A sweet nutty caramel malt with light herbal hops, nice and smooth. In mouth, a nice caramel malt with British hops, nice and balanced. On tap at Twin City Brewfest, August 13 2011.

Tasted at twin city taps. Good beer has some rye dryness to it taste a little bitter.
