COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Balck 'n Tan is generally a stout mixed with a pale or amber ale. Black 'n Berry is a new twist... Black River Stout and Raspberry Wheat. The delicate fruit qualities of the Raspberry Wheat are actually accented by the heavy, roasted stout falvor.

On tap at Grapevine Texas location. First off a disclaimer, this is more akin to a fruit beer than a stout and I rated it a such. Nearly opaque with a reddish bottom. Small off-white head and some lacing, thin ot medium-bodied. Porter (not stout) aroma of roasted malt, strong coffee, bittersweet chocolate and smoky hints. The fruity raspberry is an complementary undertone. Very nice. Good smoky and sweet malt balance with the tart and fruity raspberry, wow, well thought out. Dry and lively mouthfeel, tart finish. A great hybrid, workes well together. I'm completely against the grain on this one, I really liked it. A love it or hate it beer.

Quite possibly the worst idea anyone ever had for something to do to beer. Seriously. An evil genius lay awake in his own sweat for nights dreaming up this concoction. For a few delerious, feverish moments I imagined a decent German desert of some sort, but then I woke up and realized that I was drinking sewage.

Sampled draught at Big Buck, Grapevine, Texas.
Dark brown. Sweet artificial raspberry aroma. Lightly roasty, stiky and with candyish berry flavour. Watery finish.

A pointless fusion of one good beer with one bad beer, proving that not everything is the sum of its parts. With this mix, you lose the palate and finish of the stout in exchange for only a slight gain in fruitiness at the front. Not a fair trade. (on tap, Grapevine, TX location)

Weak head and weak lace, low carbination. The touch of raspberry with the bitterness of coffee was okay, but not great. This would go well with a nice cheese cake or chocolate dessert.

This beer is allegedly a combination of the stout and the raspberry wheat. Interesting....the stout wasnt stout enough to begin with so this beer wasnt all that it could have been. Very pretty color, mohogany. Dark berry taste and finish.
