tbarnette (105), Allen Park, Michigan, USA Oct 23, 2005 Nice thick dark. I think I prefer this over guinness, but it’s close. Tastes of coffee and oatmeal is present. SpudClampDawg (974), Jasper, Indiana, USA Jul 13, 2006 A really solid stout. Black as night pour with a great, creamy tan head (nitro pour). The nose is charred cookies, chocolate and toffee. Huge notes of dark, bitter chocolate and roasted coffee fill the creamy, full body. Very velvetty and thick. The finish is fudgey with a nice bitterness to counteract the sweetness. Great. BrandonB (81), Denton, Texas, USA Nov 25, 2006 On tap at Grapevine location. Pours dark, almost perfectly black, with a thick dark tan medium sized head. Caramel, molasses flavorings, and a sweet smell and finish. Very nice stout. Aggie80 (700), Michigan, USA Aug 4, 2002 Weak head and no lace. Low carbination. Dark color. More coffee then chocolate, bitterness is nice. muzzlehatch (4429), Burlington, Vermont, USA Aug 17, 2006 5 oz draught sample at the Gaylord, MI location, July 2006. A long retained dark head over the viscous black totally opaque body; don’t think this one was nitro so the retention on the foam was amazing if it wasn’t, anyway....smoky chocolate aroma, dry and husky and burnt with some espresso tones entering late....tart cherries, sourdough and bitter espresso shine in the body, this is really closer to my taste to a dry stout at first, though with warmth there is an ever-increasing fruitiness and plenty of chocolate....still at the finish it’s bitterly dry and lightly sour/tart with some interesting, complex and subtle peaty-vanilla whisky notes at the very finish. Ahh if only it had a touch more body....still pretty damn good.
