ilovedarkbeer (685), Dallas, Texas, USA Apr 20, 2008 Black body that is opaque. Some lacing and a small light brown head. Nose is chocolate, roasted malt and some sort of stale grain. Taste is sweet and smooth, with chocolate and a little bit of coffee. Much sweeter than the porter but lots of water in the taste and mouthfeel.
DavidP (1698), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Oct 3, 2005 GABF ’05. Listed as the "Double Chocolate Stout". Black body. Chocolate malt (strong), some coffee, and a hint of fruit in the aroma. Fermented fruit and tart chocolate malt in the flavor finishing w/ roasty dryness. Inveigler (371), Ferndale, Michigan, USA Dec 1, 2002 (Gaylord Location) This is one of the better beers I’ve tried at this very commercial brewery. Thick, oily, black appearance with a thick, almost nitrogen, looking head. Chocolate is noticable in the aroma but the roasted malts predominate. Wonderfully sweet flavors of cocoa and traditional stout bitterness. A must try if its available.
