ilovedarkbeer (685), Dallas, Texas, USA Apr 20, 2008 Black brown color with a nice medium to large sized brown creamy head. Pretty good lacing. Nose is chocolate roasted malt, coffee, and some cardboard, and maybe even a strange garbage smell. I wonder how clean all the tap lines were at this brewery.......Taste is of chocolate, stale coffee, and brown sugar. Pretty smooth. Just ok in my book.
BMan1113VR (669), Los Angeles (and Dallas, TX), California, USA Apr 19, 2008 On tap at the brewery, probably there best offering. Pours with a thick, light brown head covering a black body. Nice lacing. Strong, forward, sweet coffee ground taste. Brown sugar and coffee aroma. Goes down smoothly. Eyedrinkale (3091), Beer Town, New York, USA Dec 24, 2003 Pours balck with a nice head. Aroma of deep coffee. Mouthfeel of chocolate but dominated by, you guessed it, coffee. Nice and roasted. Starbucks should sell this stuff. legion242 (1506), Richardson, Texas, USA Jul 22, 2003 Very black; head was slight and thin; great coffee notes in the nose. Great mouthfeel- good depth. Very pleasently surprised. Yummy.
Nuffield (2532), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Apr 1, 2003 Cola-fizz in the glass, caramel head, 98% opaque with only the faintest tint of red against a bright light. Dry coffee aroma, with a hint of candy-like flavor. Chocolately notes in the flavor, making it a bit like a Kahlua candy. Except, this is aggressively dry. Unfortunately, what stood out for me was an aroma and flavor like Prego-brand Extra Chunky Garden Vegetable Spaghetti Sauce. The body reminded me that this was a porter, not a stout. Decent beer, if I hadn't been so frequently reminded of spaghetti sauce.... (on tap, Grapevine, TX location)
