COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Historically a stronger, hoppier beer - made that way to withstand the journey by sea from England to India. Medium bodied, bitter, aromatic and unfiltered.

5 oz draught sample at the Gaylord, MI location, July 2006. Lots of lacing and a well-retained head top the medium-orange hazy-thick body....luscious aromas of peaches, limes, apricots and sour apples and with more warmth, pine tar, really a cornucopia of American hops but held together with imagination and never descending into chaos....the body also massively fruity, quite light though not thin, crisp and clean with soft carbonation and just enough biscuity malt to keep the fruitiness from cloying and the hops from burning....but overall this is a big hophead’s delight and probably the best of the samples I had.

Have bought growlers of this because it was so fresh. Decent IPA with hops in both aroma and taste. Medium body and head. Amber color.

OSLO (1132) - Ames, Iowa, USA - JUL 31, 2010
[On-tap at Big Buck] Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma is grassiness mixed with grapefruit and light malt. Not great right away, and the malt clashes a little, but it did improve over time. Taste is light citrus, perfumey, floral notes, and then very malt heavy. Medium-thick mouthfeel with a long finish. A malt heavy IPA that was decent, but maybe a little different than what I was looking for at the time.

Pretty dark color for an IPA, hoppy nose/aroma as expected. Decently hoppy flavored, a bit of malt present. Probably my favorite beer that I have tried at Big Buck.

(From a 5 Liter mini-keg brought back from Michigan for me) Nice pine hop aroma, pours a cloudy brown/amber, with a big fluffy white head. Wow... great hop character, with just enough malts to balance it out. Nice long pine hop finish, a bit of thickness to the mouthfeel. I wish I could get this around me on a regular basis.

On tap at brewery. Aroma is floral, grassy, citrus hopps. Murky apple cider in appearance. Starts sweet and finishes bitter. Med/full bodied. Good aroma but just something a little off on the palate and flavor.

Draft at the Brewery in Gaylord, MI. Amber color, clear, small head with medium lacing. Nice woodsy aroma. Hoppy with grassy flavor. Good IPA. Overall excellent beer

popephred (244) - Plainfield, Illinois, USA - JUL 7, 2007
Poured from tap in Grapevine, TX. Pour produced a beer with a cloudy amber body and a small off white head which quickly diminished. This IPA was fragrant with floral and pine notes, which accompanied the bittersweetness as I tasted it. Though hoppy (as it should be,) there was minimal aftertatste with a hint of alcohol. This was a medium-bodied brew that was strong and smooth, a good IPA.

UPDATED: SEP 7, 2007 Draught: Grapevine TX locale. Very, very surprising beer. I was not expecting something good. Decent, maybe. But this beer had a very nice bittering and a very floral and pine taste. Overall, I have had better IPAs, but this one was pretty solid.

fiulijn (10383) - Como, ITALY - JAN 7, 2007
Draught at the brewpub, as Armadillo I.P.A., 6.2% ABV
Hazy light amber color with a nice lace. Powerful hoppy aroma, fruity (oranges) and with a sharp pine needles character. Medium body structure, enough malt flavor, and most of all a strong hopping, (again with a lot of resins and pine needles). Very good!

Tap. Pours a hazy dark amber color with a medium off white head. Aroma is citrus, floral hops, and malt notes. Flavor is citrus and floral hops up front, along with some sweet fruit and malt. Palate is medium bodied, medium carbonation, bitter finish. Pretty decent.
