2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 gramity (601) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 11, 2012
Standard looking beer. Aroma is hot spicy ginger and nothing else. The first sip is the same as the rest - hot, prickly, intense, spicy ginger. The ginger is just too much for my liking.

355ml bottle. Pours the oddest lemonade sort of colour with absolutely no head. Very hazy. Maybe it’s the way the colour put me off but it smells like lemonade and ginger. There’s no hint of beer anywhere. Tastes pretty bland except for the ginger that kicks in about halfway through and then heats up to a burn on the finish. Just awful.

Would certainly reach for this again if I was in the mood for a dessert beer. Nice, spicy ginger effervescence dances on the tongue and continues down to your belly. The color is an opaque lemony yellow. Leaves me with warm fuzzies.

Bottle, purchased as a single sale from Co-Op. Milky cloudy lemon yellow. Fresh spicy ginger aroma and flavour, but VERY sweet. Prickly ginger heat at the back of the swallow is nice, but the sweetness just kills this for me. Blech. And incidentally, I don’t perceive any rummy qualities at all.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 presario (4133) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 24, 2011
Bottle. According to the ingredients may just be mixed and bottled. Malt beer, cane sugar and rum etc. Looks like hazy lemonade. Sweet ginger scent. Strong ginger spice almost burns the back of the throat. Very sweet. Light rum taste. Mostly ginger, ginger and cane sugar.

UPDATED: AUG 14, 2011 Bottle. Very strong alcohol flavour. Not a good ginger beer at all. Overpowering.

355ml bottle from 16th St.Liquor in West Vancouver. Pours a very fizzy light yellow, slightly murky with no lasting head whatsoever. It’s more like a glass of highly carbonated lemonade in appearance. Aroma of sweet ginger is evident on opening. Hard to nose since the bubbles are literally popping on my nose as I sniff. Taste is decidedly sweet with cane sugar, strong ginger follows that up with just a tiny hint of rum. No malt is evident nor hops of any type. Cloyingly sweet and effervescent. Finish is really all sugar and ginger. Very un-beer like, more akin to a summery cooler high school girls might drink if it weren’t for the spicey bite of the ginger. Can’t imagine wanting to drink this regularly even if parched.
