Big Dog’s is quite excellent in the craft of IPAs, but this one missed the mark for me. Quite good hoppy aroma, but the flavor is metallic bitter and the finish isn’t great. Not a totally bad beer, but perhaps their worst IPA.

A: The pour is a nice golden color with a big white head and some streaks of lacing. S: The nose is highly citrusy and quite pungent with some pine and grapefruit leading the way. There are some nice floral hop notes floating in there as well. T: The flavor misses the mark of the nose just a little bit. The bitterness is good, but the complimentary hop flavors are not quite there: the floral and citrus just fall a little flat. The malt provides a bit of sweetness, but is not the main attraction. M: The body is medium with a fairly crisp and refreshing level of carbonation. D: I liked this one a fair amount, though I was very surprised to see from the Big Dog’s website that this beer is 8.1%. Seems quite high (especially to be considered a "regular" IPA). But, the booze is not detectable.
