On tap at Wingdome. Pours a copper red with light off-white head that leaves some nice lacing. Floral hops and crystal malts in the aroma. Flavor is malty with complex hop flavor and a clean finish. Better than I expected!

On Tap at the brewpub. Clear redish amber, lively carbonation and a very nice lasting sandy colored head. Light toasted carmel malt aroma and some spicy up front hops. Hoppy enough to tame the light carmel sweetness but still an amber. Nice middle of the road beer.

On tap at the brewery/brewpub. Pours effervescent deep copper with lasting nearly frothy head. The mild aroma is spicy and earthy hops. The mouth feel is pretty nice defying the bubbly appearance and tossing up an attack of spicy to pine to mildly earthy hops and then moving slowly toward malts, crystal like malts and some modest malt roastiness. The hops peak midway. As almost all hop bitterness comes to the surface the body of the beer drops out.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 crackedmachine (415) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUL 2, 2009
Deep copper-red with a hefty white head. Flavor is heavy on caramel malt with enough hoppiness to keep it from being too sweet, but not quite enough to justify the name. A solid, enjoyable beer...but don’t let the name fool you, this fits nicely in the amber style.

Draft from Ivar’s in Seattle. Dark amber color. Certainly was hoppy as the name says. Some maltiness pushes through in the middle. Lacing all the way down the glass.
