Skyview (3143), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jul 2, 2008 On draught at the brewery taproom in Lynnwood, Washington. Pours a clear dark copper amber brew with a thick and creamy off-white head that has some nice retention and excellent lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, candi sugar, some cotton candy and a touch of raisin. Taste is full bodied, very light carbonation with flavors of sweet caramel malt, a touch of chocolate and toffee. Finish remains sweet, quite malty grain flavor with no bitterness though some flowery hops comes through. One of the sweeter Scotch Ales I’ve tried. jcwattsrugger (4272), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Nov 6, 2007 on tap-pours a retaining thin light tan head and dark ruby red color. Aroma is rich medium malt-molasses, dark fruit-raisin. Taste is rich medium malt-molasses, dark fruit-raisin, faint hops. scrizzz (579), kirkland, Washington, USA Aug 25, 2007 sweet aroma reminds me of a darker red ale. deep dark red/brown. full and sweet malty with a hint of an alder smoky kick just before the finish. stays warm and friendly throughout after4ever (2006), Brier, Washington, USA Jan 15, 2007 Updated: Mar 5, 2008Draft at the brewery. Dark ebony. Essentially headless and laceless by the time I got it to the table. Slightly funky, sweat socky nose. Big toasty mid palate with a dry finish. <br />
Draft at the Park Pub. The numbers apply to this rate. They seem to have tidied up this beer a bit. It has some diacetyl problems for sure, but that ought to be fixable. It’s got a rich brown sugary malt backbone that colors the mid-palate and the nose. It looks great--nice dense creamy grayish head and a rich body. If they can figure out how to either uncover the boil or let the yeast do their thing, they’ll really be onto something.
