Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours with a finger width off-white head and a slightly murky copper body with decent retention. Aroma of maple some soy and nutts. Taste is nutty with a note of maple and a bit of salt. Lightly fizzy and waterlike. Reminds me of a Vienna...

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 DuffMan (4422) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 15, 2007
This was a featured bottle at what was the only pub on Royal Street in the French Quarter (the rest were all galleries), I just can’t recall the name of the place. Anyway, I was surprised to find this not entered in the database. It seems odd that TNOBC is having Heiner Brau do contract brewing-- it must have something to do with post-Katrina damage I would guess. Anyway, this was a nice approachable dark lager with rich caramel malt and a slightly creamy texture. I liked it considerably better than Abita Amber, its local competitor.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 AmEricanbrew (4123) - roam, Louisiana, USA - JUN 19, 2008
Bottle. Clear copper with a thin sheen. Aroma is caramel malt and yeasty sour dough bread. Medium body and smooth. Mild, but nice flavors of toffee malts with a bit of spicy hops. Has a clean crisp finish. A big easy drinker here.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 PorterPounder (4106) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAY 31, 2005
World Market, Baton Rouge, La, 12 oz bottle. Pours a very pale light golden with a spongy, spritzy but thin white head. Funky aroma, reminds me of hair tonic, some grassy notes redeem it a bit. Same funkiness permeates the flavor. Has a bit of saaz hoppiness to it, but is overwhelmed by a metallic blandness. Mouthfeel is rather thin. Not the best.
1.5 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 thirdeye11 (4093) - Dallas, Texas, USA - AUG 26, 2009
( 12oz bottle, should I say thanks or no thanks, to mar) Pours amber, nose of trash, spoiled cream corn. Taste is a wonky mix of sweet and sour corn, Very low carbonation. This is not a good beer at all. I think I rated it too highly actually.
