One of my favorite beer styles! When poured into my glass, this beer poured a medium sized tan creamy head with fine-medium sized bubbles. The head fully diminished. The body had some carbonation and the hue was dark brown. The nose of this beer was that of spices, cloves, malt and caramel. The flavor was malty and I could taste the alcohol in this beer. The mouthfeel was tingly, smooth and light-medium bodies. The lacing was fair. This beer did not have an overpowering alcohol taste to it and this is definitely a beer that I could drink a couple of during the course of an evening.A great tasting beer!

This brew poured a medium head of creamy finely sized light brown mostly lasting bubbles that left a fair lacing and a nearly opaque dark brown lightly carbonated body behind. Its aroma is a very plesane malty one with lots of caramel notes to it. Very nice. The flavor is nice too with a noticable alcohol content that doe not reach out and gag you but rather compliments the flavor quite nicely. The flavor also has notes of caramel and malt in it. The alcohol leaves a tingly mnouthfeel behind that lasts a fair length of time. Over all, it is one lf the better brews I have had lately.

Deep dark garnet brown with nice tan head. nice roasty aroma. taste is of dark fruits, mild spices, definately has some brown sugar notes as was earlier noted, quite tasty and by far the best of the Big Hole bears that I've had.

Mild chocolate, coffee, caramel aroma.Very dark brown appearance.Soft carbonation.Very smooth sweetish chocolate malt flavor with a mild hop finish. This one goes down real fast despite the 7.5%.Taste more like a German Dunkle beer than a dark Belgian.

12oz bottle. Deep amber brown color, pretty much opaque other than some stained glass edges. Solid beige head. Sweet roasty aroma. Not unlike a roasty Stout or Porter, very smooth and rich chocolate tones. Soft on the palate, but still full bodied. Some mild dark fruit flavors in the aftertaste, giving it a slight Belgian edge. A cool beer, exceeding my expectations.

Bottle: First pour filled an entire pint glass with all foam. After settling it revealed a dark amber mahogany color with some remaining larger beige bubbles. Has a sweet toasty dark caramel and candi sugar nose with some molasses and banana notes. Starts with good fullness and sweet chocolate chip cookie dough flavor well balanced with some light clove spice and doughy yeastiness before a slightly drier, but smooth semi-sweet finish. A fairly true to style and very drinkable Belgian strong ale.

Amber to black hues. Smells a little sweet, maybe sour. Sweet and very smooth, quite cool to the flavor. This is a good tasting beer and I do agree that you cannot taste the alcohol. I could handle it being just a bit more bitter and a little less sweet. Other than that it is a great tasting beer.

looks like cherry coke in the glass. Tiny white head with decent lacing. Kind of a sweet, unfermented beer scent with a hint of chocolatey cola. Tastes initially like sweet chocolate malt with a little bit of a sour finish. Kind of syrupy mouthfeel, decent carbonation. Pretty simple flavor- if you like a sweet, dark beer with little hop flavor, this is the ticket. Not sure if there is anything Belgian about it. Goes down easy, though, without any hint of the alcohol level. Good value at a buck a bottle. Would drink again.
