Oakes (a previous rater) was correct with the reason for the name. I have only had this on tap while eating pizza and went very well with it. Filling beer I would consider a ’sipping beer’. Have tried to clone it at home with a modified sweet cream stout recipie, but only come vaguely close. I highly recommend this beer, it is one of my favorites (although very hard to find)

May 25, 2008 Updated: Jun 3, 2008The only somewhat decent brew from Big Hole. Notes of caramel, roasted malt, and a slight burnt character. Good brew but probably not worth a second buy. See my other ratings for this brewery. They still have a few kinks to work out.

Apr 21, 2006 Bottle. Pours bronze with a decent sized tan head. Aroma of citrus, fruit, sweetness, roast, and malty. Flavor is fruit, roast and hops, over hoppy not my thing. Good body, i just wasn’t liking this one.

Mar 14, 2006 On tap @ the GF Brews and Blues Festival. Pours a nice dark reddish brown color. Aromas of sweet dark fruit, maybe some caramel. Flavor is a mild fruit, bittersweet, malty with a nice dry finish.

does not count Dec 29, 2004 This beer used to be hit or miss. When it was brewed in Belgrade sometimes it was fantastic, almost as good as Moose Drool. Other times it was along the lines of a BMC beer. Now that Park City is the owner, it’s ok but not as good as it was a times in the past.

Jan 12, 2004 Gorgeous dark mahogany body and huge lasting head. Impressive. Dark fruits on the nose and first taste like prune, raisin, overripe banana and some molasses bitterness on the finish. Thick, syrupy body/palate. This is a true headache beer as I learn each time I session with it. Wildly popular locally in MT, and cheap.
