The hop taste was light, with a nice balance of hops that didn’t leave too bitter of an aftertaste. presario (2956), Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Dark amber with a big frothy head. Soft hop aroma. Drinkable combination of wood notes, light hop bitterness and some chewy malt mixed with a hint of spruce. caledonian (367), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Copper coloured that pours with an initial explosion of bubbles. This recedes quickly to a nice foamy head. Nice smell, not too strong - malt and hops with a tinge of citrus. Flavour could have been a bit stronger, nice and hoppy and the lingering taste is wonderful: lingering hoppiness, tangy bitterness.
I really liked this ale and will be stocking up for the summer... and for the winter. wnp22 (682), Toronto (Roncesvalles Village), Ontario, Canada

Predominantly hoppy flavour with hints of caramel, nice bitter touch on the back of the tongue, and slightly tart feeling in the cheeks. All in all, a good pale ale. joeycapps (1466), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 9, 2005 Wellington County Version. Glowing red-copper w/ a slight haze & a light beige finger of foam. Malty aroma of caramel, toffee, & cookie dough w/ some leafy, citrusy, peppery hops notes. Medium, somewhat resiny feel. Flavour is well balanced w/ notes of caramel, cookie dough, orange, tobacco, & spice. Nice, moderately hoppy finish. JorisPPattyn (5167), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 8, 2005 Sample by Wellington County Br. - thanks Lubiere Good yellowish dense head; clear orange-amber beer. Cookies, caramel, rainwater and quite some hops. Hoppy, bitterish taste, good UK-type hops, no anachronistic citrus or pure pine flavours. There’s some resin in there, all the same. Some caramel, but it cannot vie with the bitterness. Finish is resiny-metallic. They were heavy handed with the hops. Resinous slickness, medium to full bodied, touch of tartness. Good ale, much closer to its English image than Wellingtons’ own Iron Duke. Strange.
