2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Shadallion (531) - Sacramento, USA - SEP 26, 2003
That this is not a west coast pale ale is blatantly obvious just from the mouthfeel: it is soft, silken, almost wet, with no prickly hoppiness to arouse the palate. The flavor is good, if muted. Dark color for a pale ale. I found this beer very easy to quaff because it was so smooth and unfizzy. Relatively enjoyable but probably not something that I'd seek out.

Pale ale my ass. More like a lightly hoped I.P.A. Two finger bubbly soapy head. orange copper color with soime carboniation on glass and going up. Smells of a light i.p.a. smell. Taste is quickly of some water that taste a bit warm & i did get the can cold that has a little grassy/bitter hop bite, then when the mouth is more dry but not 100% dry I taste all these citrus taste from the hops like lemon, orange mabye and mabye even grapefruit. I find it more like a lightly hoped i.p.a. then a pale ale. Doesn’t wow me but it’s not awful. It’s allright. Cheer’s.

Clear copper, foamy off white head fades. Floral citrus hop aroma. Bitter floral citrusy hop taste, balanced nicely with lightly roasted sweet caramel malts. Average carbonation, light - medium bodied. Dry earthy floral finish. LF (Lagerboy Friendly)

355ml bottle pours golden in color with a 2 finger white head that leaves a few spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is light toasted grains and floral hops. Taste is light toasted malty sweetness with a pleasing floral hoppy bitterness. Body is light to medium and carbonation is decent. Overall, flavors are well balanced. This is a surprisingly good pale ale and recommended.

on tap in bozeman mt. was the first beer of the evening after driving 700 miles so was expecting something light to start and it was what I got. had a slight hoppy aroma but not too strong followed by malty/hoppy taste with a pinch of roasty ending.

Not great. Smells a bit too sweet from the outset and aftertaste is a bit off. Tall can in Toronto.

I found this one to be watery with a weird, plastic aftertaste. Not very drinkable at all. Sorry but this is one sucky pale ale.

Pretty basic EPA....more malt than hops, but some good citrus and pine come through.

473ml can from the Matt Brewing contract location. This was a good English style ale, but somehow seemed more tailored to North American tastes. It was bitter, but not too bitter.
