Pretty damn tasty. Incredibly creamy and luscious, a dark and rich brown ale. Lots of different tastes coming out in this one, from cinnamon, to vanilla. Nicely complex and balanced, what I like to call a double brown ale. Extremely tasty and unique!

This beer pours a deep brown with a thin off white head. The aromas are sewerage, really! really not appealing on the nose. the flavor is not good; its like the beer was infected by bacteria but not like a sour, its not good. It’s got a sticky mouthfeel and lively carbonation with a slight dryness. not a good beer at all. Cheers!

Draught No head, dark brown indeed. Very obvious whisky - sorry, Bourbon - nose; vinous and liqueurish; dark malts also, but strictly nothing else. Quite sweet taste, only strengthened by the alcohol. Alcohol, fortified, pungent, near adstringent MF. Unidimensional, even after the barrel aging, this is essentialy an uninteresting beer.

(Draught) Poured a dark brown with a medium large-bubbled head. Very unique taste with similarities to Samuel Smith beers. Had a hint of vanilla, oak, and bourboun.

At the Indiana MBG Fest: Brewed in Indy, a GABF winner in 2001 for cask conditioned. This beer is different from the others such that it is aged in Woodford Reserve cask for 2 months, is about 6% ABV, and is named Big Bad Bourbon Brown Ale (gotta love the name!) The brewmaster is John Handley who now works in Colorado. On to the rating: Very dark brown with a nice oily rim, good clear "tears". The aroma was beautiful, very bourbon and vinous. Hints of roasted malts, cherry, prune, oak wood, leather and vanilla. Wonderful sweet and tart taste, complex. Earthy yet has a fresh hoppy characteristic for an aged ale. The brew is full-bodied with a oily and chewy mouthfeel. I may be the only person at RateBeer to get to enjoy this version of Indy's Big Horn aged brown since the new brewmaster, Dave, has no plans to attempt this again. All you Indiana members don't know what you missed. Oh by the way, this is my #500 rating! Roll Out The Barrel!!

Interesting brew. The bartender told me it was aged in barrels that contained Jack Daniels. I can taste the Jack. Underneath the bourbon flavor is a somewhat malty brown ale that somehow manages not to be cloying. I was expecting this to be too sweet but it was rather well-balanced and was an interesting combination of flavors. Gets points for being unique.

UPDATED: JUN 13, 2003 Finally, a worthy brew from this brewpub (Dallas.) Muted bourbon aroma. Light rootbeer brown. Good bourbon barrel flavor on top of a tart, chocolatey brown ale. Tartish finish. Session-style mouthfeel. My favorite beer from this brewer so far, but I suspect that it gave me a pounding headache, like bourbon does.
