2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Growler: Hazy orange, golden tinge, moderate to large pillowy off-white head, decent lacing.   Nose of dull hops, slight grainy malts, a little musty.   Raw hop bitterness up front, a bit gritty and grainy.   Light malt backing, with a false back end.   Dies real quick on the backside, a bit thin.   Looked great, but seems a bit muddled.   Body and mouthfeel bordering on the thin side.   Finish is lacking.   Doesn’t follow through on the finish.   Meh...

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at The Ram in Boise
Appearance: Clear golden with a small white head and some lacing
Taste: Citrus and malts
OK, but I wouldn’t say it was a IPA, very light on hops.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Rusty amber-colored beer with a big sticky head. This has a big juicy citrus aroma; there's a solid grapefruit flavor, milky. It's undercarbonated and too still, which detracts.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thanks to exiled for sharing this growler.
Pours golden orange with a white head. Aroma is strong hops with some piney resin. Flavor is like the smell with a mix of citrus and pine. Low-medium hop bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and a slightly dirty, earthy finish. Not a bad IPA and certainly something that is drinkable if you are at Humperdinks and need something to drink while watching a game on TV.

3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
(Growler thanks to BA Exiled) Pours very pale/amber with spare ring of head. Nose of pine/citrus hops. Taste is very bitter hops, grapefruit. Overall I thought it was way too bitter with no malt to back it up.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Golden orange color. Nice Pacific Northwest Hop aroma. Smells a little uniquely fruity too. Flavors of floral, pine, and pepper w pale malts and a little fruity sweetness. Finishes a little spicy. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUL 20, 2005 Not a bad drink, but these people make it difficult to judge since they insist on serving every beer in an iced pint glass. Not a bad color, orange-brown, with a moderate head that laced the glass nicely. It’s got a piney hop aroma with a hint of grapefruit. You also get a hint of the malt - unusual for the style. Very solid malt flavor, in serious competition with the hops bitterness. A bit watery... although it may have been from the iced glass. Totally clean finish with (a minus) no lingering bitter aftertaste.
Had a barrel aged version of this at a festival in Chicago. Enjoyed it just as much, even with the added element of Jim Beam in the aroma.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled at the Indy brewpub. Clear gold with a bit of rust. A white ring. Some nice complex hop notes. Citrus and pine. Some cinnamon spice and a bit of malty sweetness that tries to compete with the bitterness. A pleasant IPA.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap @ C.B. & Potts, Greenwood Village, CO. Coppery amber in color with a fluffy off white head, tons of lacing down the glass. Smells like grapefruit, lemons, and pine hops. Velvety smooth mouthfeel with very light carbonation. Pine resin hits first on flavor, combining with grapefruit. Smooth malt backbone is not assertive but is present, pleasantly. It lacks some complexity, but it’s still a solid IPA, and probably Big Horn’s best offering.
