Brewed as a medium India Pale Ale, this full-flavored moderately hopped beer has the strongest hop character of our ales. Made for hopheads and new beer aficionados. The grist composition is 94% Pale malt, with the remaining grain bill consisting of carastan malts. The finishing Mt. Hood hop addition in the whirlpool gives this beer a good hop character without becoming excessively bitter. The beer is fined instead of filtered so the hop character is not stripped away.

Not spectacular in any way. Odd attempt at balancing the malt and hops that led to a decent, but unexciting beer.

UPDATED: OCT 18, 2003 Bitter, IPA, whatever it is it sucks. Smelled some grapefruit hops, and then that's all I tasted. Bitter finish, but this just tasted like water and hops to me. This brewery SUCKS.

Orange color with brown overtones and a thin, white head. Resiny hop aroma that remind me more of Columbus or other C-hops than the Mt. Hood mentioned in the description. I smell pine, citrus, and grapefruit not white pepper. There is also a toasty aromatic malt underlying the hops. The malt character is quite odd (biscuity, toasty, highly roasted but not burnt). This malt foundation for the hop flavor is distinct but does not match well in my opinion. The acidity from the hops creates a rather obnoxious overall flavor when combined with the other flavor components.

Draught at the brewpub. Amber coloured. Clear. Sweet pungent hop aromas with clearly a lot of malts. Nose is very sweet. Suprisingly little citrus notes as this peer is supposedly hopped with Amarillo hops. Cloyingly sweet malty body. Not really a typical IPA. It also does not have the effervesence that it really should have, so the hops are lot in the maltiness. Finishes syrupy. Low in carbonation.

Crushed with Jakebra. Meh. More like a semi-hoppy, quite poopy amber than a ipa. Not exciting at all. Just boring and kinda nasty.

UPDATED: NOV 28, 2010 Tasted on tap at the Fort Collins Horserooth location. Clear, light burnt orange appearance. Pretty light hoppy aroma. Bitter, floral hoppy flavor. Quite dry and bitter finish.

Pours murky dark yellow with a small white head. Smell slight juicy citrus. Taste bitter, thick, and oily Thicker bodied. One dimensional and boring.

Draft in Arlington, TX Hop smell was present. Nice armber color... Almost no head. Taste was decently balanced. The end taste had a lil less hop bite then what I thought it would be.

Schaumburg, Illinois. Hey guess what this isn't horrible, merely very, very mediocre. Light copper. Smoked urine, caramel, wet newspaper nose. Actually pretty hoppy, with hints of sour cherry (beloved Lord Alexander Rodenbach, come down and slay this demonic cherry-faker I beseech you) but really very little in the flavor profile overall. Strongly bitter but thin finish. This is a joint and these are beers for those who really would rather drink Coors Light but want to call it something else to appear sophisticated.

Pours light amber with small white head. Aroma is faint notes of fruity citrus hops. Taste is caramel with a hint of citrus and light bitterness. Very light body. Just not a good representation of the style at all.
