2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 dnstone (2000) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - MAY 9, 2012Not much for aroma. Straight amber in color (always a good sign for an amber :) ) A light malty flavor with apple peel notes in the taste. A very enjoyable amber, which I don’t usually like!
Notes: Pub visit during ’09 GABF

By far I think this is the best beer from Big Horn. Everytime I get a chance to go to C. B. & Potts I get this beer. They have good burgers also.

Dradt taster at RAM, Schaumburg. Brown beer with plenty of light edges. No foam after I’ve gotten to it on the sampler tray. American hop notes finally come through my stuffy nose. Yet it’s the malt that leaves the first impression on my tongue. Followed by a tangy caboose of bitterness. Pleasing fruity esters keep the hops from taking over.

Draft. This one was pretty bland. A little caramel and not much hop presence to speak of. Pass

Clear red orange color with little lacing. Lots of caramel on a mild nose. Good body for an amber. A little funky on the finish but not a lingering pungent feeling

Amber with a white head. I get a lot of toffee and caramel, as well as some nutty notes. Very dry. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Not too good, but about as good as it gets at Humperdinks.

On tap at C.B. Potts Greenwood Village location. Pour is clear copper with a small white head and decent lacing. Bready, caramelly, slightly roasty aroma - lighter notes of grass, biscuit, and straw. Taste is lightly toasty, caramelly, malty, earthy, somewhat floral, grainy, and cereal with a light bitter finish. Medium body with low carbonation. This is not a bad amber at all.

Tap. Pours clear, light brown with thin, fizzy off-white head; short retention and spare lacing. Aroma is light caramel and cereal malts, dates, light floral hops, and maple syrup. Flavor is lightly sweet malts, some dark fruit esters, light floral hops; bland throughout. Medium body and low carbonation.

On tap at Schaumburg location, pours a clear dark brown with no head at all, the aroma is of old malt and caramel, the flavor is very bland with just a little bit of sweetness in the finish with some caramel, ugh, not good.
