Brigadier (972), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA Feb 4, 2007 Growler from the Wheeling, IL location

I picked this up because the entire growler was only $4.50. At half price it is a decent beer. At full price I would not have given it a second thought. At least I got another growler out of the deal. This is a very forgettable and bland beer which actually improved as it sat open in the fridge.

Aroma / Appearance - The semiblack body had no carbonation and one a thin feeble head. The nose was part good and part bad. The good was roasted malt, weak coffee and oatmeal. The bad was soy sauce and watery chocolate mousse. Overall it was almost average but still subpar.

Flavor / Palate - The first sip was very bland, dry and watery. If you concentrate it is possible to pick up chocolate pudding, graham crackers and oats. The finish comes quickly and fast before it all disappears in a haze of mediocrity. It still gets a 5 for flavor because after time it actually developed some character. Still, it is a very generous 5 - based on a single sample I would give it no more than a 4. CharlesDarwin (1503), State College, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 27, 2007 From a growler. Weak roast coffee and crappy hot chocolate dust. Deep blackened pour, with murky edge. Flavor is watered down sweet stout. After touches of roast grains and light bittersweet chocolate, it immeadiately evaporates to water. Light salty oat finish. Drain pour. Thanks anyway brigadier. hezron (594), Viroqua, Wisconsin, USA Jan 25, 2007 Chocolate, roasty chocolate with a bit of nutty aroma, generic stout aroma. Dark black in color with a thin head. Thin, watery flavor with some roastiness. As we said, make a cake with it!
