This must have been a special brew for Big Horn. I tasted this at The Ram in Rosemont, IL just outside Chicago.
Deep amber brown color with sweet aroma. light citrus flavor with quite an alcoholic finish.

pours a deep clean brown. Fairly well balanced, a touch of mellow earthy hops, nice sweet malt backbone. Solid beer.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 NobleSquirrel (2671) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 28, 2012
Draft at Ram in Wheeling. Pours a deep brown with an offwhite head. The nose is somewhat toasty and quite sweet, faint alcohol notes as well. Minimal hop notes. On tasting, lots of sweetness, too sweet really and out of balance. Some flabby malt character but overall just not a good representative of the style overall. Not for me.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Cornfield (5277) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - MAR 8, 2007
This poured a deep caramel body with a short-lived beige head. Nice heavy lacing, nonetheless. The nose and taste were both chocolate caramel, slightly burnt toast, and some dark dried fruits. The good carbonation kept the sweetness from becoming overpowering. Pretty tasty.

On tap at Ram - Wheeling, IL. This was the star of the night. Poured a clear, deeper shimmery brown with almost no head. Aroma picked up darker, nicely-toasted caramel and dark fruity malts.. some herbal notes.. sweet overall. Really enjoyed the flavor!.. deep, lightly smoked caramel and nutty malts as well as sticky molasses with warm alcohol accents. Lower carbonation with a very good flow on the palate.. nice rich malts.. well-placed bitterness.. complimentary warmth. Very good stuff!

A very mellow dopplebock - medium bodied with a very subtle smokiness that ties it all together nicely. Some hints of chocolate, some oak, all washed aside by burnt cream and mild alchohol.

FOBAB 2004: "Armbender Dopplebock" Smelled like pizza. Wheat, bread aromas with a funk that would make Bootsy fall over in awe. Wood, bitter, bootstrap funk. Sweet, semi-alcohol.

FOBAB’04: RAM, Wheeling,IL aged this in a whiskey cask and called it "Armbender Doppelbock". Sweet and malty with subtle hints of vanilla-sweet whisky. Some tobacco-like toasty flavors show up in the finish. Thin, but quite tastey.
