COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A true German-style hefeweizen made with 45% malted wheat, unmalted wheat, Munich malt and 2-row barley. The yeast is a southern German style strain. The flavor profile includes clove and banana undertones. This beer is unfiltered and slightly phenolic. The hop additions are all traditional Hallertauer hops.

UPDATED: AUG 10, 2004 Actually fairly decent for an american made hefe. Pours a light cloudy yellow color with a small white head. The brew had some good spicy in the aroma with a hint of lemon. The spice came through well in the taste with a good wheaty flavor and a bit of lemon.

Another weak brew from Big Horn. There just isn’t a whole lot going on here, but it was a little bit better than the blonde. Not much wheat taste or aroma - banana or otherwise.

This draft brew at the brewery in Indianapolis poured a small head of fine to medium sized mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a good lace. The body was a hazy yellow-white color and it had a banana wheat yeast aroma that was very nice. The mouth feel was smooth tingly and fruity with a banana malt flavor. This was very nice for a Hefe-Weizen made in the USA very true to the style and very good.

On tap at the Ram in downtown Indianapolis. This beer formed a small sized white head with fine-small sized bubbles. The body was cloudy with a straw yellow hue. The nose was spicy, clove and banana. The flavor was clove and banana with a smooth mouthfeel. This beer was light-medium bodied with fair lacing.

Good bitter and very citrus aroma. Not overbearing in terms of sweetness, a good balance with wheat flavor. Good bright orange color (hazy). A very acceptable hefe.

From a sampler at the Indy location: RAM prides itself on not serving their Hefe with a lemon. The bad news is this is not a very good beer and it might have been better with a lemon. Pours a hazy gold color with a thin white head. Not much lacing at all. The aroma is not bad, with some clove, citrus and banana. The taste however was kind of disturbing. It takes like Mr. Bubble to me for some reason. It was hard to detect any wheat characteristics under the odd bath soap flavor. Same goes for the finish, it pretty much ruined the beer. I'd give it another shot but this was just not right.
