2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 TheRealMGD (541) - Lakewood, Washington, USA - SEP 18, 2012Tap @ Ram. Dark red-brown pour with a negligible head and leaving no lace. Nose is dark Belgian malt, chocolate and a hint of spice and booze. Medium body with light carbonation. Brown sugar, brandy, chocolate and some cinnamon. Finish is medium, sweet and some increased booziness. Not very complex, fairly average. In general, I think the Big Horn beers are under-rated, but this BSA needs a lot of work.

Growler sampled at ratman’s. Pours brown with a small, fizzy, off-white head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, toffee), light hops (flowers), heavy yeast (dough, earth) with notes of plum and dates. Full bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and an astringent finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness.
