This traditional German beer is usually served on the first day of May to celebrate the arrival of spring. Our Maibock is a malty but balanced beer that is extremely drinkable and leaves you asking for another round. A spring seasonal specialty in every Big Horn Brewing location.

Clear brilliant golden with a thin foamy cap. Big bready German nose with a gentle floral hop undertone. Crisp and big German malty blonde flavor with a full palate, and a gentle floral grassy German bitterness. Very subtle hoppiness as its quote blonde malty and bready.

Tap at Rhythm and Booms Filtered orange-yellow body, traditional heller-bock look. Classic and true to style. Enjoyable.

Had on draft at the brewpub in Boise. Clear golden, light spicy phenolic, pilsner maltiness, lightly sweet malty finish

Draft (at Indy downtown location). Lemon and barley malt aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Sweet barley malt and moderate astringent flavor. Not bad - decent.

From notes. Draft. Meh, this is probably my least favorite here. Relatively weak flavors of some grassy citrus and a little toasty malt. Drinksble, but nothing to bring home.

Nose of soft sweet brown bread, a litle caramel and fruit, lightly spicy hop presence. Pours golden orange with a thin head that does not last, moderate chill haze. Flavors of moderately sweet brown bread, a little caramel, some fruity sugar notes with a slightly spicy and peppery hop finish. Balanced, not flawed, just not super interesting.

On tap at C.B. Potts Greenwood Village location. Pour is clear yellow with a big white head and great lacing. Floral, spicy hops, somewhat grassy, biscuity, cereal, and straw on the nose. Taste is noble hops, earthy, spicy hops, doughy, grainy, and bready with a spicy hop bite on the finish. Medium mouthfeel with high carbonation. OK.

I thought this was a pretty damn tasty beer. Very surprised about the low ratings.

Again, this was a good beer from a chain brewer which was pleasant. Good malty flavor and a good alcohol bite.
